To expect that when my DP says he is only popping out for half an hour max, that he is, well, half an hour!!

I know its petty, i know its being unreasonable, but FFS. Anyone with small children will know where i am coming from im sure. He needed to pop out and see a friend. DD wanted him to do planting with her, i ended up having to do it, which is fine, but DD wanted Daddy. HE thinks i am being unreasonable by moaning, but why cannot he understand that this is a big deal, he has been gone nearly three hours, not at the pub by the way, its just that, i have forgotten what it is like to have the freedom to just take myself off somewhere, wonder around the shops etc, even if i do do that, i have to rush back. Now dinner will be late - im

it's a man thing - I'm sure there was a thread on this recently

nancy75 · 09/03/2008 17:22

i dont think they go by the same time as us!

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 09/03/2008 17:22

I wouldn't keep the dinner for him. Feed yourself and the kids and carry on without him.

lucyellensmum · 09/03/2008 17:23

I was just about to post that nancy, he honestly has NO concept of time at all - hes a nightmare

Get him one of those countdown alarm things to carry around...it will ring when he should return, although he might ignore it...

lucyellensmum · 09/03/2008 17:28

My husband is terrible for this. if he says he's only gonna be half an hour i usually ask him if he means it or if i should expect him in a couple of hours or so, lol.

ladytophamhatt · 09/03/2008 17:54

dh does this too which i s espaiaclly annoying as he;s train driver so obviously he can be at X on time but when it come to us he never is.

he's an inconsiderate shit!

grumpybum · 09/03/2008 18:10

This sort of thing really annoys me. My dp popped out last Sunday afternoon at about 2pm to see his friend in town. He told me he would call me in half hour and let me know when he would be home - He came in 7.30am Monday morning! And was suprised that I was a tad annoyed (and it was my first Mothers Day)

lucyellensmum · 09/03/2008 18:14

grumpy, i would castrate my DP if he was that late!!! There is letting time run on because your mate doesnt stop talking - DPs excuse for today - and taking the fecking piss

Sorry to hear that grumpybum

my dh constantly does this. "just nipping out for a bit"....4 hours later

I wouldn't mind, but I had hoped for a little time off (new baby and all that)

I wouldn't mind but often when he returns i suspect he's been drinking. Can't smell it, but his behaviour is suspect.
