Tesco delivery man blasting music

bmrising · 25/10/2023 19:53

I just had my Tesco shopping delivered and the delivery man was blasting music so loud! I could hear it from inside my house whilst I waited for him to knock.

Not massively bothered but seemed odd that they would have it blasting while unloading the van at this time and my young DS has just gone to bed, his bedroom window is at the front directly above.

AIBU or is it a bit unprofessional really?

Nobody should be blasting music in public so that other people, also in public, can hear it. If you want to listen to music, you should listen in a closed space without disturbing others or using earphones/headphones. From a car or van, it shouldn't be heard on the street let alone in someone's house.

First world problems

defi · 25/10/2023 20:21

You've too much time on your hands

BennyBlancofromtheBronx · 25/10/2023 20:21

I mean, if it were Rolf Harris' greatest hits or lostprophets, I might have an issue with it.

Nevermind31 · 25/10/2023 20:23

I’m finding it annoying too, it is anti social.

Viviennemary · 25/10/2023 20:25

You sound like a regular moaning fusspot. Honestly of all the trivia folk get annoyed at this seems more than a bit over the top. He probably didn't realise the road outside your house has been designated by you to be a quiet zone.

You can hear it from where you are? Wow.

You must hate ice cream vans...

You are not being unreasonable.

I’m afraid it’s probably something we have to live with. I experienced similar with an Amazon Prime delivery guy last week. (Not for my house.)
I was just at the point of stepping outside to complain when he thankfully drove off.
It’s inconsiderate and selfish behaviour but a sign of the wretched and disturbing times we live in.

Thoughts and prayers for you at this difficult time.

Frazzledandfried · 25/10/2023 20:27

Poor bloke is stuck in a van all day probably rushing to get to people within their time slots! I wouldn't begrudge him his tunes!

LubaLuca · 25/10/2023 20:30

What was he listening to?

Guiltyfeethavegotnorhythm0 · 25/10/2023 20:32

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who when they become parents expect the rest of the world to know it's their child's bedtime and to be quiet .

threecupsofteaminimum · 25/10/2023 20:34

It's like that all time where we live in south London. I don't even notice it half the time.

SM4713 · 25/10/2023 20:34

OP- I completely sympathise and understand, despite the majority thinking differently

We've just finished renovating and were living in a static van in the garden for 2yrs. We often had trades arrive early and sit in their van playing music. Even with all my window closed- I'd get woken by the thud, thud of their music. Its almost like a workvan or car projects and concentrates the sounds out!

I really don't think people realise how loud it is, because when you are driving along, there is alot of outside noise, wind, cars etc. Its only when you stop that a radio can be ridiculously loud.

Ah well....never mind

Westfacing · 25/10/2023 20:37

Loud music from a vehicle is a bit intrusive but it's usually fleeting so no harm done, particularly at only 8pm. As a PP has said, probably keeping him awake and motivated after a long day.

Try Ocado Wink

Toottooot · 25/10/2023 20:39

Wooptie fucking ping.

Nowherenew · 25/10/2023 20:41

If it was midnight then you might have a point but you posted before 8pm.

I don’t see anything wrong with loud music.

Just because he’s a delivery guy, doesn’t make it any different.

How are you going to cope in the summer when the ice cream van comes around 😁

greyhairnomore · 25/10/2023 20:41

Does it affect how he does his job ?

vodkaredbullgirl · 25/10/2023 20:47

I blast my music in my car after a night shift, keeps me awake on the way home. I do turn it down as I get closer to home.

Westfacing · 25/10/2023 20:48

XenoBitch · 25/10/2023 20:05

What time?

BTW, someone is my street is setting off fireworks at this very moment. Can I complain about that?

I too can hear fireworks (West London) maybe practise for 5 November!

Messyhair321 · 25/10/2023 20:50

1st world problem right there! sorry OP doesn't feel like an issue to me

haribosmarties · 25/10/2023 20:53

I think YABU it's a hard job. Whatever keeps their energy levels up. I mean it really is gruelling. Probably listening to music you like whilst doing it is the only perk...

ChocolateIsntTheSameAnymore · 25/10/2023 20:56

I know someone who works for a supermarket delivery always blares music loud. The manager often uses van after him and never says anything about the volume

EmptyYoghurtPot · 25/10/2023 20:57

Could you hear it as he drove down the street or when he parked up? Have to say it wouldn’t bother me - in fact it would help as the Halloween decs mean I can’t see when he arrives atm. I’m on first name terms with my Tesco man 😂
