Hello my ex and I have 2 kids. Split 3 years ago. He has buried his head in the sand about the mortgage and at the time I wasn't working due to a young child. Ive had enough now. The house is permanently trashed he doesn't seem capable of maintaining it. I'm also going out half the week to escape and get space. I am working now around the kids. I earn £700 a month and appreciate universal credits and a few more hours work will be the road I go down.
I managed last week to get him to agree to buy me out. He's refusing to entertain him going instead (I've lived here all my life and started buying it at 19 I'm now 34) I'm not bothered ill go! But I need my share to set up again. He's started leaving the house a tip when I go out since I mentioning it.
I just wondered if there's an option before he "bought me out" for me to go on universal credits and leave here ASAP! Can I apply for universal credits whilst still here? I know my friend is still on her mortgage but applied and has moved out to rent.
My son is 5 and his emotions are allover the place and he's becoming angry and I know I desperately need to do this for his sake.
I need kind words and advice. I really am down and unsure what road to take.
