Go round to their house or trust Just Park to sort this out?

I live on a house estate near and airport. We have parking problems everywhere.

For a few weeks we have been getting people parking in our private off road parking spaces for days/weeks on end. A neighbour confronted one of them and they said they had paid for the space via Just Park. Got in their taxi to the airport and left. My immediate neighbours denied all involvement so I reported the most recent one to Just Park and they told me it’s a house way up the street nowhere near me. They say they are going to ask the seller to prove they own the space. But I really don’t think they give a shit, it’s all just profit for them. Anyone could say they own anything and get a listing on their site from what I can see.

Now once as a one off I would give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe having a crap listing that doesn’t explain the parking but this is the third time and they haven’t noticed the buyer doesn’t park in their sold space? So I think they are selling space that doesn’t belong to them. They are making £30+ I am making nothing and having no parking spaces for days on end.

I considered posting on the local Facebook group but this seems petty? I’m not sure whether to go round and confront them, or leave a note or just leave it up to Just Park? Just park say they are investigating the issue and will ask of proof of ownership from the seller.

I don’t know where I stand with this, I am considering one of those fixed locking bollards however as it’s a shared hard standing space (with allocated parking spaces) I doubt I have permission to install these, and who would I even ask? I don’t think the council own the parking and the developers handed it back a long time ago.

AIBU to be FUMING and has anyone come across this before?

I'd be round at the cheeky fuckers door, utter nerve of them .

Surely most people would!
I'd have to go round and speak to them, whilst simultaneously progressing with the penguin bollards

Klona · 23/10/2023 14:27

I don’t rent out my spaces I use them we have 2 cars. The on street parking is unpredictable and awkward. My daughter has not long been driving so it’s good for her to be able to use her space.

I assume you can let out your space and not aware of any restrictions

They have been clever. No obvious photo of my spaces and just very vague non specific directions. This happened before and just park forced the resident to show a photo of the space with the space number on it. Yes just park told me which house was selling it which is why I am so annoyed it’s not even on my street. I have the deeds to my house to show if needed and I had the car registration to track it with Just Park. Problem is once the car is there, you can’t do anything until it leaves again. Then it just happens again. I can’t leave a review I’m not a customer.
The Parker was told not to park there and still chose to however I am not going to vandalise anything I just want them to FUCK OFF. I can’t afford to keep towing cars away costs a ton

Before buying a bollard, I would become a Just Park customer, rent the space for a hour, leave a scathing review of Just Park and this spot and say anyone parking there will be towed…if it works, job done….if not go for a bollard

HerMammy · 23/10/2023 15:51

@SeaToSki
Genius idea!!

WrensAreAllDinosaurs · 23/10/2023 16:18

Try your Community policing team. They should be able to contact the vehicle owner and arrange for it to be moved. Bonus. Just Park will magically ‘discover’ the issue once vehicle owners start complaining the police are calling them

MaggieFS · 23/10/2023 16:23

Yes, I think @SeaToSki is onto a good thing, but rather than say anything against JustPark which might prevent the review from being published, say you got shouted at by a neighbour that it isn't actually a space to rent, that the person renting it out is a scammer and that the neighbour said the next person who parks there will get towed.

Hopefully that's factually accurate enough to survive any vetting but should put people off!

rwalker · 23/10/2023 16:24

You can plant the seed on FB
just ask if anyone else has had problems as you challenged someone and got told it was just park

SkyFullofStars1975 · 23/10/2023 16:40

FB is your friend here, as you'll probably find others are having the same problem as you.

And make it very clear that Just Park are also aware of the situation.

TenderDandelions · 23/10/2023 16:46

Oh definitely post for "advice" on FB...

"I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do in this situation. We have a parking space on my property, but it seems someone nearby has decided to rent it out through Just Park, even though we own it. Just Park are looking in to it, but it's very slow and in the meantime people keep using it. I'm looking at getting bollards put in the space, but am wondering whether it would be OK to block someone in the space?"

Then, once you've got a load of comments slating the person, print it out and post it anonymously to the person advertising it, just in case they aren't on facebook!

Hopefully the possible threat of their "customer" being blocked in and demanding a refund might spur them in to removing the advert.

Bloody cheek!

Alternatively (and this is definitely not a serious suggestion, as tempting as it may be) go and take a photo of their driveway or parking spot and set up your own advert!

MaggieFS · 23/10/2023 16:59

Actually I also like that idea - advertise their driveway and undercut their price 😂

Wouldyouguess · 23/10/2023 17:01

A few months ago someone on here asked about renting out a parking space on their estate that did not belong to them, but they always saw empty and everyone seemed to think this was a genious move... Maybe that person is living on your street OP!

Be petty. Put it on the local FB group.

The moral high ground is overrated!

This!

SerendipityJane · 23/10/2023 17:04

HMRC are always keen to heard about peoples "nice little earners"

MissingMoominMamma · 23/10/2023 17:04

Is it possible to review the space on Just Park? If you put on a message saying that this space does not belong to the person renting it out, that might work.

TheHawkisHowling · 23/10/2023 17:06

I'd put traffic cones there. There's not a huge amount you can do about cars being parked where they shouldn't be.

A lot of people appear to believe there's a big bad towing company patroling the UK looking for vehicles to snatch up, but that just isn't the case.

So I'd go for prevention rather than cure.

Klona · 23/10/2023 17:53

I booked a space with the seller I thought it was (photo of my bloody house) and the directions seemed to NOT to be my parking space however still vague and no photos of the space. This could be everyone who can’t tell the difference between left and right. However as I could book the space and the car has now gone I think I know who it is doing it.

I have found who might be able to give permission for bollards and they emailed me a form which I sent back straight away. Fingers crossed they are the right people.

If anyone knows how to tow a car away for free to yourself but charge the owner I am interested 😂.

I could just go park at the sellers house but the space numbers don’t correspond with the house so I would just end up pissing someone else off unintentionally.

If I do Facebook do I call them out for their house number too? Go in heavy and direct or just ask politely?

Could you ask the management company which drive belongs to the property renting the just park space so that you can redirect any new customers (and in the meantime use it for your car).

Klona · 23/10/2023 17:58

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon problem is even when you tell them to their face they can’t park there, they refuse to move as they want to catch their flight. So they blatantly say they DGAF to your face and fuck off. The car has gone now I have my space back for a while. But I’m more confused now as there are 3 houses in the street doing this, 2 have photos of my house in them and just park gave me an address further away of an address that doesn’t seem to be on Just Park

Can you see the availability of the space online? Just before it's next due to be used, arrange for someone, anyone, to park in the space before it's taken, then sit back and watch them get pissed off when the space is taken!

Unless they are earning over £1000 year from it HMRC won't care.

YABU but purely because this is essentially a parking thread and you have not included the diagram. It's the rules. 😉

This is correct Grinwe love a diagram and might have ideas for you about how to stop it

TinChristmas · 23/10/2023 18:47

even if I had paid for a space and someone came out and said I couldn’t park there and it was theirs, I would get back and drive off and pay for another space and sort it out. No way would i leave my car there!

Unwisebutnotillegal · 23/10/2023 19:01

I’m surprised that Just park haven’t sorted it sooner, I used to rent my space out with them and their T&C’s were extensive and I had to inform my house insurance. They seemed very pro active as a company.
I also second the hiring the space then leaving a complaint

Klona · 23/10/2023 19:03

Here is a diagram

problem is with leaving a review - I have 2 suspects now…

the red x is the space I believe is for sale. It’s possible multiple people are just too stupid to know left from right

Go round to their house or trust Just Park to sort this out?
