To think a 6CC isn't worth freezing?

Just did a second IVF round, 7 eggs collected, 4 fertilised and only 1 made it to blast by day 5. Have done a fresh transfer with a 2BB and clinic has just called to say there is one embryo from day 6 which is suitable to freeze - a 6CC. From research I don't think this is worth shelling a grand out on to freeze and I'm thinking of telling them to discard. Does anyone have any success stories with an embryo this poor?

@Justanotherdobby hey, what did you end up doing? Freezing or not. I've had a few cycles, an ectopic pregnancy and chemical. Now I've just frozen a 6CC from last cycle. The embryologist said their grading system is C is average, B is good and A is excellent. Cc the success rate is 33% for a pregnancy. So there is a chance.

Hi, I decided to freeze it. My clinic advised it had a 25% chance, which whilst not great is still something so didn't feel right to discard.

@Justanotherdobby good to hear, I read its a 33% chance of pregnancy and a 25% chance of live birth. The fact its hatched shows its evolving. Are you waiting to do a pregnancy test with your 2bb? I had a 4bb ended in an ectopic then a 3bb it was a bfn.

OTD was a few days ago; got a BFP :) Trying not to get excited due to my history (2 MMC) but tentatively hopeful for scan in a few weeks time. Best of luck with your next steps.

@Justanotherdobby that's nice hear, I totally get not being too excited, I've had two pregnancy losses too. Best wishes to you too.

Just fyi, I came across this when I was researching https://www.inviafertility.com/blog/blog/ivf/azzurrifan/fifth-vs-sixth-day-blastocyst-grading/
It seems to suggest day 6 embryos can have the same success rates as day 5 when used in FETs rather than fresh transfers.
BTW, I'm sorry for the losses you have experienced, I hope you have good support around you, this IVF road can be so heartbreaking :(

Fifth vs Sixth Day Blastocyst Grading

Blastocyst grading of sixth day blastocyst indicate lower pregnancy rates, making them better for freezing until they are ready to transfer at later date.
