AIBU to think it shouldn't be so difficult to get a basic job?

My employer folded and I'm looking for work. Fuck me but how much do people expect of you these days??! For like barely enough money to pay rent and bills. What is going on with that? You have to prove that you're resilient, flexible, solution oriented and so on - just as well really, given that what they'll pay you isn't enough to live on.

What's going on here? When did it get so hard to earn enough money to support yourself?

I've not experienced this. Do you have solid experience, qualifications, etc? I've not found it hard to get a job suitable for where I'm at in my experience and quals, and also don't know anyone who has found it hard either.

What type of job are you trying to get?

There's a business near me that has advertised 2 different low wage jobs in the last 6 months with job descriptions as long as your arm and skill requirements which appear to be way above what you would expect for the pay. They put the ads on local Facebook pages and there were some interesting comments, some saying exactly what I was thinking. No idea if they managed to fill the vacancies at those rates.
