Just watching Big Brother and I'm actually feeling really sorry for Kerry on it.
First of all, she is getting a lot of hate on social media.
A bald meme of her has been created and spreading around Twitter.
And tonight and has heard everyone shout "get kerry out!" and I actually feel sorry for her.

Yes she has big personality and can be a bit dramatic, but I'm not getting all the hate. I feel sorry for her family also who have to watch this.

And people are tweeting things like,
"Can't wait for Kerry to come out and see she's basically a bald meme who everyone hates"
And I think it's awful!

I just wouldn’t watch it at all

The whole concept is vile, don’t encourage it

Yesyoucant · 20/10/2023 22:36

Not watching but yes. Everyone gives a fuck for about 5 minutes and then it's back on the bandwagon. A portion of the media and wider society on social media basically cannot help themselves.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 20/10/2023 22:36

Don't fucking watch it then. If people stop watching this shite, TV companies will stop making it, and people won't be put in these situations.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 20/10/2023 22:36

What's she done?

CharityShopHorde · 20/10/2023 22:36

Why did she go on it?

Exactly this.

Sortf · 20/10/2023 22:37

At the end of the day, whether I watch it or not a whole twitter hate campaign is going on about a lady who is on a reality show and I think it's disgusting that people think it's okay

People enter these awful, tasteless shows knowing exactly what they are getting into, and people then perpetuate it all by watching it and getting involved - so no, I don’t feel sorry for them.

StarDolphins · 20/10/2023 22:39

I was thinking about this the other day, so many people changed their profile on fb to be kind around Caroline Flack, some of those same ones are just so mean& bitchy.

Mumsnet & others & SM too where there are a lot of mean & snarky replies.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/10/2023 22:41

You don’t have to watch it. You don’t have to go on Twitter. You’re going looking for things to be disgusted by and now frothing on here.

”Be kind” is a pile of misogynistic shite anyway, let’s not go back there.

bombastix · 20/10/2023 22:41

If you watch this stuff you are part of the problem

XenoBitch · 20/10/2023 22:42

The people going into the Big Brother house are surely aware that they will be in the public eye, and therefore criticised, talked about etc.
I would hope there is some sort of psychological screening that goes on first to ensure particularly vulnerable people do not get to participate. But this shit is about viewing figures and resurrecting a tired format so I would guess not.

Biasquia · 20/10/2023 22:42

Which Kerry?

Is it Kerry Katona? I think she is incredibly resilient given the start she had in life. I heard her on a podcast recently and she was incredible. I think she accepts being marmite but I think there are plenty of people out there who like her.

NahNahKissHimGoodbye · 20/10/2023 22:43

YADNBU I hate programmes like BB for that reason.

Nextexitisthelast · 20/10/2023 22:43

Not watched it but from what I’ve read perhaps she should not be a homophobic racist and then people might like her more 🤷🏼

GrazingSheep · 20/10/2023 22:43

Here’s a radical idea. Stop watching shite tv. Stay off twitter. Use your time more productively.

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 20/10/2023 22:45

i don’t watch most of these type of reality shows including this one. i hope screening from the producers screen out someone who is mentally ill or cognitively impaired, particularly those for general public. Should be for the celebrities as well, but they should have personal advisers as well.

The format is so well known now that I have less sympathy for people that decide to become stars that way.

Yeah, got to agree with this, sorry!

NahNahKissHimGoodbye · 20/10/2023 22:48

I remember the flak that poor Jade Goody got over that racism incident on BB. She was scapegoated for sure over that. Puzzles me looking back, she always appeared more mixed race than white to me anyway!

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 20/10/2023 22:51

I don't buy that 'be kind' is misogynistic. That's a subjective interpretation. It's not 'women, be kind.'

GuinnessBird · 20/10/2023 22:52

Be kind is often spouted by arseholes when they are getting their comeuppance.

NahNahKissHimGoodbye · 20/10/2023 23:25

I don't like the way the media treated Caroline Flack but she was pretty unkind to her partner. It seems funny that when a male partner is abusive it's LTB, when it's a woman it's all "be kind." David Walliams ( and I say this as someone who has always loathed him) hints at being suicidal and it's all "he is only upset because he being called out." It's sad what happened to her but she got a Twitter hashtag for a situation that was 100% of her own doing? Nah.
