DP has just informed me that the wine order will be delivered this week 4 cases of it.
Bloody wine society, £200 is way too much for wine.

OP posts:
Twinklemegan · 08/03/2008 19:38

How many bottles?

bran · 08/03/2008 19:40

It doesn't sound that much for 4 cases tbh, especially if it's good stuff. It would take me a bloody long time to drink that much though.

BecauseImWorthIt · 08/03/2008 19:40

That's £50 per case, which is just over £4 per bottle - which is a pretty good deal.

He may have had to order that number of cases to get a decent discount?

Why is this an AIBU thread? Is it about the money or the amount of wine?

Can't say if YABU without knowing that!

Are they cases of 6 or 12?
If cases of six that is obviously some pretty nice wine, which is a good thing and if they are cases of 12 that means lots of cheap but good wine, which is a good thing too. so I would say no, 200 quid is not too much on wine.
Unless you are struggling for money of course.

Twinklemegan · 08/03/2008 19:41

That much wine would last us about 5 years!

chequebookjerry · 08/03/2008 19:41

my dh is just the same with sunday times wine club. for a salesman he is so easily sold to.
and its only farking wine for gods sake!!!
I will drink anything so I don't know why he bothers

PeachesMcLean · 08/03/2008 19:43

Depends on how long it would last for.

chequebookjerry · 08/03/2008 19:46

have just told dh about £200 for 4 cases. he says thats bloody cheap and are you sure its not more

can I just add he is always lying how much he pays for wine, I am not suggesting your dh is the same

Rachmumoftwo · 08/03/2008 20:30

But if you buy individual bottles, it soon adds up, so doing it this way may save you money.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 08/03/2008 20:31

Cracking value if they are 12 bottles to a case.

Reallytired · 08/03/2008 21:14

A wine crate holds 12 bottles, so he has bought 48 bottles of wine for £200 or roughly £4 each.

I don't think its an unreasonable amount to pay, but I would be asking whether he actually needs 48 bottles. That amount of wine would last our family years.

We bought about that amount for our wedding and paid a similar price about 6 years ago. It was really nice wine though.

DoubleBluff · 08/03/2008 21:15

Depends if you have 200 quid to spare i spose?

Monkeybird · 08/03/2008 21:20

stop moaning. Other posters here have husbands who buy Black Tower FFS. Or put bottles of Concorde to chill...

DoubleBluff · 08/03/2008 21:28

They had huge bottles of Lambrini on special today in Asda - they were flying off teh shelf.
I was in

QuintessentialShadow · 08/03/2008 21:37

Whats Lambrini? Thats a wine I never heard of.

QuintessentialShadow · 08/03/2008 21:38

Is it actuallly a wine? Isnt it alcholized pear juice?

But to the OP, I would glady spend that amount, if it was 48 bottles of decent wine.

Kindersurpise · 08/03/2008 21:40

I don't think it is too much if you can afford it. My Dad often orders from the Sunday Times wine club and they do offer good deals.

I agree with Monkeytrousers, be thankful he did not buy Black Nun or Lambrusco.

sandyballs · 08/03/2008 21:43

I was just working out how long it would last us

Monkeybird · 08/03/2008 21:46

Am defo not monkeytrousers BTW.

milge · 08/03/2008 21:49

Good deal. YABU.

iamdingdong · 08/03/2008 21:51

fab deal, where can I get hold of it?

Kindersurpise · 08/03/2008 21:52

Oops, where did I get Monkeytrousers from? Sorry.
