Should I pay for an extra room?

I’ve just started a long weekend away. I flew in yesterday.

A friend is joining me today.

I paid for the accommodation as I am much better off than her, financially. We’re sharing a room.

Problem is, I woke up this morning with a stinking cough and cold. It hit me out of nowhere. She was already on her flight by the time I realised I was unwell.

I feel terrible for her that she’s going to have to share my room when I’m unwell. I actually don’t feel too bad but I’m full of snot and I’m coughing like mad.

I could really live without footing the bill for a second room for her though, the hotel is $$$.

Not sure what to do!

Is she contributing anything to accommodation as it is?

Tell her, give her the option of booking another room or go halves with her

I wouldn't shell out for the extra room. It's not ideal but you'll both survive. Hope you feel better soon.

Eh...no. If she is keen not to share, surely the onus is on her to book another room? I don't see why you have any responsibility for that, at all.

If you invited her on the understanding that she would have no room costs I would give her the choice of keeping to the original arrangement or paying half towards a room of her own.

Do you have any Covid tests with you? This is how the current strains of Covid are manifesting
