Interview and job offers process?

I had a job interview on Monday and I got some positive comments after the interview which was great. And they asked if I would be willing to do an additional role for a couple of hours after the finish time of the first which would tie in with the role. They then said thank you for coming and we will be in touch. How long does it usually take to hear back if you have been successful or not? They did say that they will be contacting references

I would says it can take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks depending on how many people they are interviewing. I usually ask how many candidates they have for the role at the end of the interview to give me an idea.

If they haven't reached out by tomorrow, I would send them an email Friday morning along the lines of "Thank you for your time on Monday, it was a pleasure to me you and Ms X and I am really excited by this opportunity... If you need any other information from me, please let me know". It's usually enough for people to send a quick reply with timelines or their decision if they've made it.

I would say in a few days time, after all candidates have been interviewed and sized up. Weirdly though, referee and DBS etc checks is the bit that admin/HR does after you have been offered the job.

If you are successful, you can expect to start in about a month's time if it's public sector and in a week's time if private sector.

Good luck - hope you get it, and not too much limbo.
