Pointless threads about grammar schools

I'm sick of the Brexit like debate between those for and against grammar schools on MN. What's the point? No government will expand them. No government will end them where they currently exist. Why are so many people endlessly battling on MN over the pros and cons like it's the big issue of the day! AIBU?

I don’t see the problem. If you want to pay for something that is ‘free’, go ahead. It makes more space for those who can’t.
