What an arse ! That was joint money, I’d hop onto legal and see if you can do anything about it

bungletru · 16/10/2023 22:13

Lol gonna be a hypocrite.. he shouldn’t.. but you should 😂

MidnightOnceMore · 16/10/2023 22:14

Legally if you divorced it would be discussed as part of the settlement. It's family money.

Zanatdy · 16/10/2023 22:16

I’ve got a friend whose husband doesn’t tell her what it’s his savings account. Not joint, but she is aware and so they’d be classed as joint money. He was over 40 when they got together and nearly paid off his mortgage, always been careful with money (aka tight)

catsnhats11 · 16/10/2023 22:21

Is that your real name? I'd change it if so.

catskittens · 16/10/2023 22:45

every individual should have a secret stash

TheCatterall · 17/10/2023 02:26

@KARENJRAYBOULD just here to ask if that’s your actual name - if so get mumsnet to help change it or delete the thread.

I think you both should have secret savings. Relationships fall out even if you are at the moment in love with each other

I don't know about 'secret'. DH and I have separate savings (along with joint savings) but we know roughly how much each other have and both know that in the grand scheme of things it's all joint money.

I just think that everyone should have the security of some funds that only they can access, should shit ever hit the fan.

We have a joint savings account that we can both see, but we also have our own personal savings. Neither of us know what the other one has in savings.
