It's for 8:30am an hour away! I've rebooked it once because I just can't figure out how to make it work. It involves me getting drops in my eyes so I can't drive, and the only person I can ask is my sister who has two kids to get to school at 8:20. No breakfast club or partner to help, and our parents can't help because both are elderly and really struggle on a morning, especially in the cold weather.

I explained all of this when I rang and the reception team said they'd book me in the afternoon clinic but another letter has just arrived and it's the same time!

I just can't figure out how to make it work!

Need to get from Hartlepool to Sunderland by 8:30, which from experience is at least 45mins but usually longer due to traffic. Can't drive myself due to the eye drops. Have no-one to ask but my sister who has two kiddos who need to be at school at 8:20 (that's the earliest we can drop them off). No other help.

It's not possible, is it? 🙁

A taxi

Not everyone is made of money, so a return taxi or a AIR BNB for 2 nights is ridiculous.

Can your sister drop you off really early and then drop the kids off at school, before coming back to pick you up?

Its a lot of back and forwards for your sister but you could give her petrol money and offer to babysit a couple of times to ‘pay her back’.

A taxi from Hartlepool to Sunderland at that time in the morning would be virtually impossible to book (school runs), and outrageously expensive.

Airbnb for an eye appt? Nah, seriously?

I might be wrong, but I don't think they do patient transport....I wasn't offered it if they do.

It's a lovely, old, very friendly little hospital, worth the effort 👌

Just shout x

do the public transport then? Set off at 6:30, you’ll be home by 12:30. A 1hr45 minute journey isn’t that unusual, that’s how long the buses to my fortnightly appointments take each way.
