To think DD is a pilferer

DD3 has a money box and if we have any small loose change (10p, 5p, 2p, 1p) we let her (supervised) put it in the box. The other day, we opened it with her to count it and lo and behold, there were quids, 50p’s and even a £2 coin! Am I being unreasonable to think she’s been going through coat pockets and purses? 😂

my DD learnt at about that age to shake Daddy’s trousers that he left on the floor while he was in bed and put the paper money back and take the coins. By the time we went on holiday she had accumulated about £70 in her money box. It didn’t lead to a long term thieving habit and we can laugh about it now she is an adult.

😂 this is adorable and hilarious. Children are so ingenious when they want something 😂

DD learned quite quickly that daddy is careless with coins and where to find them (bedroom floor, in between sofa cushions etc)

Grandparents explanation seems most likely though

Can you send her to my house? See what she can rustle up?

My DC went through this. We had numerous conversations. Three years later and it appears to have stopped but if other DC is missing money I know where to find it!

It worries me tbh.

A kid nicking money? It’d worry me, too. 😳 I don’t think I’d ‘lol’ over it.

The OP’s DC is just three.
Mine was approx 7 so a big diff!

My grandson is 3 and coins are just 'monies '. 2 X £1 coins are '2 monies' as are 2 X 2p coins - it is the number of coins that has a value not the value of individual coins.
If she is taking them from purses etc , that needs to be managed but check with Grandma first.

She is 3 for gods sake, hardly the next Ronnie Biggs 😂 I remember at that age my daughter have a 50 pence piece and asking if I will swap it for 2p because it was bigger 😂 they have zero concept of the value of money at that age.
