I know this isn't an AIBU but I wanted to reach as many people as possible.
Just a reminder to visually check your electrical appliances for worn or damaged cables. I went to turn the hairdryer on yesterday and got a mighty shock from the socket through my left hand.
I got the socket replaced, although the electrician couldn't see a problem with the existing one. It was only when we inspected the hairdryer itself that we noticed the cable was fractured and the live wire exposed. I'd picked the hairdryer up in one hand and must have been touching the live wire. As soon as I turned on the socket switch, the shock hit me.
I'd never noticed the cable wearing and fraying so please do check every now and then. Hairdryers can be problematic as they get a lot of use 😚
