I know it was on over a decade ago, I've just started watching it recently and really getting into it. I'm just in shock at some of the couple. One girl going into labour is 18 years old and her partner is in his mid 30s. She got pregnant almost immediately.
Another one where the expectant mother is 17 and partner is early 20s. That isn't as bad, but it's still an adult (albeit a young one) with a minor.
In most of the situations they've been together a very short amount of time too.
That's not to say they wouldn't be good parents, and I guess it's none of my business but I find it all quite uncomfortable.

The saddest one was where the father admitted he'd told the young girl to get an abortion as he 'didn't need that in his life'. Wow..

If you think that's shocking then you're very easy to shock. I've worked as a midwife over 30 years. I could tell you things that would shock you to the core.
You have no idea what people are capable of. My job is a complete eye opener to life at it's best and worst.

Would you say the show is realistic in terms of what you’ve come across in your role as a midwife?

On the whole yes. It is heavily edited though to show the dramatic bits like running down the corridor for a Cat 1.
I didn't watch it a lot at all as I want to relax in other ways.
The job is very tough physically and mentally but I can't think of anything I'd rather have done.
