I used to apply for jobs on websites where it showed the actual employers email. You know - where it says, "to apply for this job , please send your CV to [email protected]".

I used to always get a response from them, even if I hadn't been successful.

This year, I am applying for a new job. I decided to apply for jobs on indeed.com.

Indeed.com don't give you the email of the employer. You just send your application into indeed and they send it onto the employer

It's a very popular website. And a lot of jobs are advertised on it. However I've applied to about 30 jobs on it, over a month ago, and I haven't heard anything back from any of them. If I was unsuccessful or successful. Nothing.

I'm starting to wonder what is the deal with this website. Do those jobs exist. Do they even send applications on to employers ? What are other people's experiences of it.

If you see a job on there that you want to apply for - look on the recruiters / companies website or Google the job to see if you can find the vacancy - then apply. Indeed seem to have a strange algorithm where I don't think all applications always reach the recruiter. I've never had a reply back on Indeed.

A friend made the same comments about Indeed; she found the jobs are usually also listed with GlassDoor and Reed etc so started to apply through them with more success.

I can’t speak for indeed but many of these sites simply scrape job ads from anywhere on the internet and then repost them as if the employer had listed them on their site. As the employer never used them in the first place and the job is just a snapshot of something that once appeared on the internet however briefly or long ago I think a lot of employers just ignore or even block traffic from these sources. There are a huge amount of junk/fake/out of date jobs being advertised all over the place.
