Antisemitism and islamaphobia

I am a Muslim woman, a mother of 4 children, a business woman and a uk citizen born and bred. Today I was called a terrorist because of the atrocities happening right now. I wear a hijab. This means I am identifiable as a Muslim.

There have been reports of rising antisemitism. But please be aware that islamaphobia is again on the rise also!

Please look out for your friend's, family and neighbours. Whether you are black, white, Muslim, Jewish or of any other community.

No one deserves being called a terrorist for walking down the road, for being out having coffee with a friend, for collecting their kids from school.

I am Jewish and I was attacked yesterday for the 3rd time in a week by a group of masked Hamas supporters who shouted: Go back to Poland! While one of them made hissing gas chamber sounds.
I agree that Islamophobia is unacceptable, but as a Jew I am one of 240,000 people in the UK, and as a Muslim you are one of over 3 million, so statistically your people have a lot more support than not.
If people could just get rid of the Jews and Israel then I’m not sure anyone would mind much.

It makes me so sad and angry what is going on. I'm from London and completely devastated at the antisemitism that is taking place here and in other parts of the UK. I don't recognise London in many ways any more.

I hate that it is mainly Muslim women who seemed to be abused for being Muslim, rather than men. Awful.

I’m sorry that happened to you. 3 million spread out in a country doesn’t mean much for Muslims when they’re alone and being attacked, as the OP was. The same for Jews, as you were. Cowards target those they perceive as weaker.

Report it??? Are you kidding? I had no proof or evidence, and the Met aren’t interested. My friend tried to get a swastika removed last week and the police officer tried to explain to her why it wasn’t antisemitic.
In any case, the way you asked the question means you think I’m lying. You’re probably one of those people ripping down hostage posters too.

God this is disgusting. The school should exclude them for a least a week. We need to let them know it won't be tolerated. If that was my child they would be taken into school to apologise to this poor boy tomorrow.

No doubt the school will let them off with a telling off.

Thanks for a much needed post. We are not responsible for the actions of power crazed warmongering governments and extremist groups. I am Jewish and am glad my DPs and DGPs are no longer living through this latest escalation in antisemitism. They died believing this country was a more tolerant and accepting place than it was when they settled here.

We have no say which ethnicity we are born into. I feel all I can do particularly at such a dreadful time is to call out racism whenever I witness it, smile and be friendly and kind to my neighbours (big block of flats with people of many ethnicities) and my community and to find things that bring us together . It’s amazing what a box of sweets in the foyer on a Friday afternoon with a ‘ please take a sweet. Have a good weekend’. sign, can do to put a smile on people’s faces.

No invasions or killings were mentioned by me... I mentioned entering peaceful to carry out justice....

No idea who Jan is.... bit I stand by my words. I think it's very very interesting what happened last week btw... the IDF declaring pauses to allow aid In and the government of Israel reacting with sheer rage.... I think that alone speaks volumes about the decisions on aid around the cabinet table. Justice for victims of genocide is paramount and that goes for Israeli victims also. I very nearly came back to post about the reaction of the cabinet to the decision of the IDF but I thought better not to rile people up again. I suggest you do the same.

Sorry to read this. This is absolutely disgusting behaviour. People should be allowed to exist in peace. I don’t want the attitudes from decades ago coming back again but fear they have.
