The world’s going mad

I understand the news is distressing at the minute. In fact, I don’t watch it because it’s always distressing in some way or another and I am ND so find it harder to not dwell.

But I am fed up of this notion people are commenting on every news video saying “the world’s going mad”. It always has been! Past 2 decades we had 9/11, 7/7 bombings, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Children washing up dead on beaches from Syria.

Even throughout history humans have been terrible. Indigenous schools that murdered children, horrific slavery, world wars, Falkland’s, medieval times. Each decade and century has its own brutal history and yes, things are in a horrific state right now but people sound so dim and unaware when they say things as if the world has been peaches and cream up until this point.

AIBU to want to thump those people with a history book?!

People think the world is going down the pan when, in reality, for most people, there’s no other time in history when it’s been better to be alive.

I grew up in the 70's with 3 TV channels, a young single mum in a poor, chaotic household - I didn't have time or the inclination to know about the world outside of my bubble. So for me (early 50's) the world has become more dangerous ...or I'm just more aware of things now.
I agree with you OP.

100% agree i say the same the would as gone mad.

Crime rate as hit a high. ( is in our city)

The stigma if you have a baby young ( dont judge you dont know the circumstance) but ok if you have one knocking on 50.

Dont get me started on parents that overreact or there perfect parenting and how their child is never wrong.
And the couples with drama when he/she is acting so entitled.
