I found myself annoyed at the advert when they decide to mention whether older women still have sex. I've seen it a couple of times now, both were pre watershed if that's even a thing now. I don't think our kids should have to hear about women having sex followed by an older lady lounging in her underwear. Call me a prude but I just think it's going a bit too far. I've changed name for this. Am I being too old fashioned? I'm only early 40s

I haven’t seen the advert you’ve mentioned, what’s the point the adverts trying to make? They sell clothes don’t they?

Doiordontigiveone · 12/10/2023 19:26

They're saying things like "they think middle aged women don't know how to party, don't have style and probably stopped having sex a long time ago" Shot to grey haired woman lying down provocatively in her pink lacey underwear. I just think it's poor taste to speak about sex in a clothing ad.

You're being unreasonable, ridiculous and a prude. It's a very tame advert.

NotFastButFurious · 12/10/2023 19:33

It makes me cringe

ssd · 12/10/2023 19:33

I feel the same op, its pathetic. And image if they showed a guy past 50 in his boxers talking about if he still has sex, there would be an outcry

ginasevern · 12/10/2023 19:43

@ssd

This. Exactly this.

Doiordontigiveone · 12/10/2023 23:16

Its proper cringe as much as anything. Makes me embarrassed to be a middle aged woman. Why do I need to hear from some dick at JD Williams advertising dept that everyone thinks we don't have sex anymore or have any fun? It's a load of crap.

YANBU I'm in my 40's definitely not a prude. That's completely unacceptable for a pre watershed ad. It's getting increasingly difficult to shield our young kids from sexual topics/images. Innuendo is one thing, but that sounds blatant.
