To tell someone their dog barks for 3 minutes?

My neighbour’s dog barks for a good solid 3-5 minutes when they leave it alone, after that, it does usually settle but this is daily and sometimes twice a day. I have no idea how long it’s left for at a time, so don’t want to say they’re just leaving it but it’s quite annoying. DP (who doesn’t live with me but visits a lot) has told me it’s not that bad and for a relatively short period so we shouldn’t bother, but I’m not necessarily doing it out of having a go, but maybe they’re not aware. Either way, is 5 minutes or so considered prolonged?

AIBU to tell them?

Please don’t be that neighbour!

Most people would wonder what’s wrong with you if you knock and tell them their dog barks for 2-3 mins daily 🤣

I was literally thinking this too

Do you live next to me?

Seriously though it’s not possible to be at home with a dog all day, we all have errands to run. It actually sounds like they’ve done a really good job with their dog if it barks for such a short time. Maybe instead of complaining tell them how well they are doing?!

I had a neighbour like you.

My dog used to bark when I went out and did the school run. The school is literally a three minute walk from here, so I was gone for ten minutes max.

She knocked the door and told me that I should be aware that my dog barks when I go out in the morning.

Then she reported me to the RSPCA and environmental health.

Then one day I got home from doing the school run and she essentially lay in wait for me and told me that my dog was going to be removed from me by the RSPCA as she had seen to it.

She told me that the entire neighbourhood had complained about me and wanted me out and wanted her to see to it.

I then calmly told her that I’d been recording her conversation (I actually had been recording a voice note while I walked home and just left the phone running) and that I would be taking it to the police as evidence of harassment. She ran literally screaming into her house and never spoke to me again. Result.

The reality was that her own dog, which was so aggressive it could only be walked muzzled at night, was triggered by the two minutes or so my dog barked.

Also, she had already fallen out with all the other neighbours and so I was fresh bate so to speak.

They moved about a year later and left the house in such a state that the new owners actually threatened to take them to court if they didn’t knock money off the price.

The woman was an unhinged mentalist.

Your not my neighbour are you as my dog does the same. Not sure what you expect them to do apart from never leave the house without there dog. I think you need to give your head a wobble as it a nonissue.

I’d be really relieved to hear my dog was quiet after 5 mins. So not sure it would have the effect you’re hoping 😂

This can't be a serious post surely?

3 minutes is a tiny amount of time 🤣

Dogs are fine on their own whilst owners work.

Not only are you being unreasonable, you are completely bonkers 🤦‍♀️🤣
