double buggies vs boot space

Obviously not an aibu

but upgrading to a double buggy - I was looking at one by Icandy that has an attachment to covert to a double - I like this idea as you can interchange between the two (e.g when one is at nursery I can just use one seat but have the option of 2 when needed) tempted to say it’s called the icandy peach

or the bugaboo donkey as again it can convert into a smaller single buggy when needed.

does anyone have/reccomend either of these?

Will also be getting a second car to accommodate said buggy. We have an Audi a7 currently and the boot just isn’t big enough as we do a lot of long trips and will struggle to fit a third car seat also.

we did consider a Toyota estima or something like that but there isn’t way to secure items in the boot. So worried they will move about when the boot is full and be annoying for whoever is in the rear seats. Other than that it’s a really practical car for what we need. Have been in a few and they were good and cheap as a second mum wagon. I like the style of the seats in this which is the main draw

also considering an Audi Q7 if anyone has any advice?

rangerover is out of the question as they are a nightmare with insurance in London.

I have ruled out getting a single buggy board as I get easily flustered when the kids are playing up and there is lots of noise going on outside and il be adding a newborn into the mix soon. At least with the convertible buggy I have the choice and can forgo the additional seat when toddler no longer needs it, or it’s there if we have a 4th

toddler is 2 will be 2.5 when baby is here

My toddler was 2.5 to the day when baby arrived. Never needed a double. Certainly haven't needed to upgrade the car.

Invest in a buggyboard instead!

I ask my toddler: is it going to be on the buggyboard, scooter or walking today? The closer to 3 we've got the more it's walk walk walk!

How old is your eldest?

I have the iCandy Peach and have mixed views. I find the gap between the bassinet and pushchair part so tight/can barely see baby. It is handy for splitting between a single and a double, however, the wheels are pretty big so can cause some trouble in the boot (especially if you have other things taking up space).

I don't think we'll use it for baby two and three.

This was my other thought - I mean, we need to upgrade the car anyway as our boot space just isn’t enough for the stuff we take when we travel even with only two kids, but buggy board I’m 50/50 on. I had ADHD and sometimes struggle on my bad days to coordinate everything if there is lots of noise and outside distractions so I’m thinking if the toddler decides to run off or doesn’t want to get on the board and the baby is screaming and my 7 year old is playing up il end up in tears having a meltdown😂 or if toddler wants to fall asleep on a long journey she won’t be able too. We live in London so journeys out and about can be long and tiring. She does have a scooter too

maybe I just need to bite the bullet and give it a go

This is really helpful as I had wondered about the space between the two seats so thank you. Il take that into consideration. I remember the wheels on my old icandy being huge too, our current buggy is similar aswell. 💜I think aestheticly the icandy is really nice but maybe not the most practical in that case! Xx

I've got the bugaboo donkey and love it. Same age gap as you. You can easily click to take the wheels off if it awkward for the boot. I like that it's side by side and you can have one facing you and one facing out
