What is your idea of hell on earth?

So nothing biblical.

For me today it was ASDA, 1pm on a Sunday, event going on nearby so huge amount of traffic to get in, even longer queues inside, screaming kids, adults barging by you, having to queue for customer service.

Anything else would include cave diving, pot holing or being on a submarine.

Cruises. Just float round on a massive ship seeing feck all until you get 4 hours in a really lovely destination along with 5000 others at the exact same time. The rest of the time you are trapped with a load of randoms some of whom will probably want to try and make friends shudders

Oh, most definitely this!

Hbh17 · 09/10/2023 17:49

Apart from a cruise, any of:
Disneyland
An AI hotel
A spa
A hen party, or pretty much any all-female group
Absolutely anything that smacks of "organised fun"

Juzesu · 09/10/2023 18:57

Kidney stones. Hell is filled with people suffering from kidney stones.

SuddenlyOld · 09/10/2023 19:08

Crowds
Drunk people
Spa
Swimming pool
Not having books to read or paper to write/draw on
Prison
Not being able to go outside

Finbad · 09/10/2023 19:41

The remnants of dog poo on the pavement

sodabreadjam · 09/10/2023 19:49

Having to drive on a busy motorway, e.g. M25. I would be terrified. I could wet myself just thinking about it.

Rollercoasters - especially the very high and fast ones.

Pot-holing and any tunnel related activity.

Getting on a packed plane for a longish flight and finding it is full of drunk stags/hens.

Being in a.nursing home - I visited DM for many years. I know the staff are doing their best but I would find it hard to cope with the lack of privacy and dignity. Maybe I will change my mind and be grateful if I need to go into one..

Poppysmom22 · 09/10/2023 20:14

Any flight over a couple of hours. I used to be all about the long haul but now I just can't think of anything worse than being trapped on a plane

Bearcub101 · 09/10/2023 20:21

Food shopping when the supermarket is busy
Going to children’s birthday parties (screaming kids- just why??)
potholing
absailing
dentist
hangovers, especially when I have to move off the sofa
crowded trains
sitting in a room full of managers- I could write an essay as to why!
sleep paralysis

Johnisafckface · 09/10/2023 20:30

Social activities at work (ice breakers/"tell us one interesting thing about yourself"/etc

Presentations

Cruise vacations

being on a long haul trip (or anywhere too long) with a screaming baby/kid

being in large crowds of people where there's no room to run/move

Hermittrismegistus · 08/10/2023 23:41

Wales.

🤣

bluejelly · 09/10/2023 22:30

Gaza. Ukraine. Syria.

bluejelly · 09/10/2023 22:33

(Sorry my last post not light-hearted... just feeling so sad about what's happening)

Aubreylights · 09/10/2023 22:46

Also to add to my underwater cave diving, some people swim through tunnels so small they have to take their tank off to squeeze through and it’s “therapeutic” - what the fuck. Never ever ever.

I hate team nights out where you’re expected to attend. I am actually friends with some colleagues and I regularly see them outside of work but being forced to spend time with a group of people I wouldn’t socialise with in my time is draining.

Arriving at a restaurant for a nice meal and seeing our table is next to a long one with a birthday balloon (40!? 60!? 80?) meaning a huge , loud group will descend and take over. Just, shudder.

itstoopeopleyoutthere

Yes, I wasn’t good at sports and was usually last to be picked in team games.

Oh, I 've been to what I describe as "Hell on Earth" so with the chance of being a little bit outing....
It's a huge swimming pool/ wellness/ spa place in the black forest. Where you pay an eywareing amount for the pleasure of coming just a bit closer to death!

Basically DC get to play on all different types of water slides having a ball while the parents are shivering covered in goose bumps and close to hypothermia!
The only option is to spend some time in the tiny kiddies pool that is knee deep and has the temperature of a warm bath.
Problem is you have to take turns with the other parents - so no opportunity to get rosy cheeks and being gslightly overheated.
(No joke, the pool was full of adults- kids didn't stand a chance!)

Obviously one could choose to queue up for one of these instant death slides ....

My idea of hell is perhaps living in Ukraine, having my home bombed or running out of food. Or perhaps my village being swept away by an earthquake like Morocco - being left with nothing.

I’m with you @waterlego

And me - I love the fact that when we're camping there's no TV, limited internet and just time to chill

Dragonfly97 · 10/10/2023 09:44

Party bus.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 10/10/2023 09:54

Just adding my hell on earth extra here. So I’d been with DB/SIL and my then boyfriend to ikea. I came out and realised I’d left a treasured black Zara cardigan on one of the sofas in the sofa area. So I went back inside to run the gamut to get there and retrieve said cardigan. That was fun, not!

Go to Antibes in Jonzac where parents holiday home is. Much more civilised, nicer pools, jacuzzis, lazy river etc. still got death slide I think!

Never seen parents (mostly French) shivering there! They wouldn’t countenance that!

Fairground rides full stop. Fun as a teenager, not as an adult.

Add to that lifts in Eiffel Tower. I now realise why my mid 40 something friend walked up or met us half way rather taking the lifts.

NooNooHead1981 · 10/10/2023 10:06

Funnily enough, I would have agreed and said Butlins too before I was subjected to going had fun going there with my children. The crowds were pretty full on but it was peak season, but it was actually not as awful as I'd expected. It was a holiday primarily for the kids so I guess I just had to endure, grin and bear it 🤣😳
