To think DH is being over sensitive ?

We have 2 girls. Both are the mirror image of me and personalities too are mine completely.
DH said yesterday that he feels really sad that the girls look nothing like him and that there are literally no similarities. I said he was being silly as most daughters look more like their mums but he got a bit off with me. Aibu to expect that girls tend to take after their mums more ?

It is silly and there isn't anything to be done. Nothing more unattractive than a man-child whose vanity is hurt.

Glad this attitude is in the minority!

Yes that was pretty unkind of you @SunsetsInVenice

People are sad about things that are out of their control all the time. Have some empathy!! Many people dream of a mini me or of a child of their gender to be able to share similar things with them as they had in their own childhood. My husband is living the dream playing football with his mini me son.

My friend's DS's are both the double of her. Look nothing like their Dad at all.
Everyone remarks upon it and I can sense it's a sore point. She actively says:
"No, look at that freckle there - he's so like his Dad" 😁

Yabu and dismissive of your dhs feelings. Acknowledge them as something he feels he wont love them less due to it. Also a lot can change at 1o and 8

I have 3 dds. All adults
Dd1 resembles mil and her sisters (dd great aunts) we have photos of the sisters age 17 each and it's like seeing dd1. She has her dad's nose (who has his mums nose)

Dd2. Until age 12 was the spitting image of dh but now at 23 looks a huge amount like my mother and in profile she is like me. Has dhs eyes.

Dd3 looks like my maternal aunt and has Fils smile

We also have a ds he looks like a mixture of bil and my dad. He is the biggest mix of our genetics

DS was the spitting image of me when he was younger, looks more like DH now.

I am adopted so he is the only genetic link I have

Interestingly over the years many people comment on the likeness between me and my DM without knowing she is my adoptive mum
