Being annoyed at lowball offers

I have a pallet of paper cups. They go for £60 a box normally. People are asking for discount on £20. I'm fuming. Mine have a cup a soup logo but functionally are as good as anything.

I would rather send stuff to fucking landfill than deal with some of the rude, ignorant tossers you get when trying to sell almost anything these days.

BlueYonder57 · 05/10/2023 19:54

You don't want to sell them, don't sell them. I'd certainly have no desire to buy from "rude and ignorant tossers". Y'all feel free to put it in landfill. No skin off my nose - I still have my money, and you two don't.

mummabubs · 05/10/2023 19:54

Personally I don't get this. Maybe because my dad always told me "something is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it". If someone offers you an amount that's too low then why not just politely decline and move on?

I regularly sell and buy on Vinted. I had someone offer me £1.00 on a top that's new without tags and listed for £1.50... Didn't bother me at all, I just said I'd rather wait to get the amount it's listed for. No biggie! 😅 I just feel there's bigger things in the world to feel fuming about than a hypothetical offering of money on cups?

I think we know who's sending you cheeky lowball offers OP. 😂

YANBU, people expect something for nothing quite a lot nowadays, I find.

Didimum · 05/10/2023 19:55

No need to be ‘fuming’. What an overreaction. Decline and move on.

No is a complete sentence.....

ActDottie · 05/10/2023 20:18

I kinda get what you mean. I get annoyed by the people who just send a single message saying “£20?”

I also get annoyed at the people who ask for a big discount and then give some massive sob story about why they need it more than everyone else and that they have children to feed blah blah blah… quite honestly I dont care I’m not a charity!

bctf123 · 05/10/2023 20:28

It's because they are a business. So am I.
They wouldn't give a discount on their goods. Why should I?
They want a living wage...so do I.
They have to pay rent . I have to pay storage

The second hand paper cup market is not what it was. I blame the Tories.

bctf123 · 06/10/2023 21:19

@ActDottie you wouldn't believe some of the stories I've heard.
I had one guy who wanted to copy my business exactly down to the colour of the font he used in his adverts. He was buying stock off me with inhuman haggling and trying to flog it full price.
Anyway couple of months later a man comes to buy the same thing off me and tells me the story of the man who said he came from London to Yorkshire to buy it and haggled it down to a very unfair price with the excuse of having travelled so far. Couple of weeks later the man goes to buy something round the corner off a second hand website and the guy "from London" is stood at the door

I worked it was the guy that had tried to rip me off
