Baby’s legs, help

10 month old took socks off when out today. I didn’t notice until fifteen mins later when we stopped on the walk. Feet and lower legs were like blocks of ice. They are only mildly warmer tonight. I am a first time mum and very worried, will this have caused long term damage? It was around 8 degrees outside.

They’ll be fine. Mine regularly discarded socks when out walking x

15 mins in the cold is fine. Think about it logically, it’s really only in the last 50 years we’ve had nice warm houses. We’d have died out years ago.

They didn’t warm up though, even legs were cold and now she’s in bed and still they are only a bit warmer!

My baby regularly takes his socks off while out and about in the pram, he's absolutely fine!

ReadRum · 04/10/2023 22:10

They cry when they are too cold. If there was damage, baby would be crying now.

Marblessolveeverything · 04/10/2023 22:19

They will be fine. Maybe look into having a zip around blanket and consider tights in winter.

My pair were desperate for loosing socks. At least with the zip around blanket they couldn't remove it.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 04/10/2023 23:18

Has baby had a bath since being out?

caringcarer · 05/10/2023 01:00

When mine were babies they had something called cosy toes. A sort of leg and foot sleeping bag thing that went up to their waist. I don't know if people still sell them now? They are probably old fashioned but they kept babies feet toastie even when snowing out

Marcipex · 05/10/2023 01:13

She’ll be fine. Just put tights on instead, and she won’t be able to get them off.

junbean · 05/10/2023 01:18

I bought lots of tights from H&M for this exact reason! They can't take them off. Baby will be fine!

TheSandgroper · 05/10/2023 03:35

Or you could put dc in trousers a size larger so the legs cover the toesies.

Sugargliderwombat · 05/10/2023 04:52

Don't worry op, she'd be crying if she was hurt.

Tights under trousers and a cosy toes bag
