Woke up this morning with pain in the back of my neck and a band of pain around my head. Rifled through medicine box - no Syndol. Cannot get it anywhere. Is there anything else that works in the same way? The muscle relaxant ingredient always worked brilliantly in Syndol

I use paramol for bad headaches, but it might be worth your having a word with your GP?

Yes, the Syndol OTC now is just like Paramol. Paracetamol and a bit of codeine.

God that old stuff was good.

Boots did a similar one but that's gone too.

Migraleve the pink tablets are what I'd use instead for a pain like this

Haven't been able to get the original Syndol for YEARS! It was the only 5th by that really worked for me too 😪

It was magic. I only had to start getting proper prescription migraine pills after they'd withdrawn Syndol.

Co codamol is almost the same

But it's not got the doxy wotsit that sends you doolally (in a good way 😂) briefly.
The nearest I've found are the decongestants with pseudoephedrine.

Apparently the doxy thingy is in Vicks night time syrup in a small dose.

The old syndol was so amazing. The doxylamine succinate combined with the codeine and paracetamol got rid of the pain and gave you a lovely sleep.

Kirkland Sleep Aid contains doxylamine succinct. I use it to help me sleep at night (insomniac).

The original Syndol was one of the few things that would stop my migraines in their tracks. Wish they’d stop messing around with medication that works and replacing it with useless crap. I’m sure you used to be able to buy really good cold tablets called Dimotapp (I think) that used to dry a cold right up. Can’t get that any more. Or Tyrozets!

That’s worth knowing! It was the doxy that worked so well for me, for tension headaches

I miss Syndol. Nothing else works as well on a particular type of headache for me.

It's still available in South Africa...we order it online and it comes through customs. Desperate times!

It was really good before they changed it. Surely as adults wee can make our own minds up about what we take?

I have had the same issue. I wrote to the manufacturer last summer, who assured me that it would be back on the market later in the year but looks like that’s not happening. I can’t find anything else that works as well.

Solpadeine Max, I prefer the soluble but the ordinary one is good. Just make sure it is 'Max' and not 'Plus'. Also, search for Syndol sold online, it's quite legal.
