A time you’ve got in trouble at work which was incredibly justified

I was just thinking about the time when I started a new job in 2020. It was office based and we’d always have the radio playing in the background whilst working.

We’d listen to Heart, KISS or Capital FM and these stations would ALWAYS have some sort of competition going on. ‘Text us if you hear X song to win 30 grand,’ those sorts of competitions. Whenever I’d hear the specific song, I’d pick up my work phone and text the number in hope to win.

I was doing this daily for about 3/4 weeks when I received an email from someone relatively high up in the company. They’d sent me a spreadsheet of everytime I texted this number and how much each text cost. I racked up £98.56 or some nonsense like that😅

Luckily I only received a warning and was told not to do this again. They also highlighted that my work phone was to be used for WORK purposes only. Unofficially, my manager told me that the only reason I had kept my job is because I was ‘bloody good at it’ and reminded me to not be so stupid again.

Have you ever got in trouble for something at work and you totally deserved the bollocking?

Nope. I've been bullied and totally didn't deserve it.

It's very obvious that that's not what this thread is about. I swear some people just trawl these boards for any opportunity to play the victim. Let go of your bitterness and move on, you'll feel so much better.

Nope, but I sat next to a lovely but ditzy woman who was calling her boyfriend on his mobile every day from the company phone . He lived in Portugal. This was about 20 years ago when calling a mobile was eye wateringly expensive. I went into her disciplinary meeting with her ( she could have someone and asked me) and she was incredibly honest , apologetic and immediately offered to pay.
Work were very fair and she just received a verbal warning. I think that if she had tried to wriggle out of it they would have been much harder on her .

I started a new job and was trained by the person I was replacing. He was very excited to be leaving he as was going to a different company with a much higher salary. Unfortunately he couldn't do didn't like the job and wanted to come back. He managed to get a job in the IT department despite not being remotely qualified and spent the next 3 years monitoring everything I did on my computer to try and get me into trouble.

Once I got hauled into my Manager's office for having a topless man as my screensaver - it was an angel!

Another time when my cat had kittens so I put an advert on the staff intranet saying "Sluttish behaviour by my cat means I have four lovely kittens looking for new homes" He uploaded the advert to the intranet and then reported me to HR for using inappropriate language. They were outraged that I had used the word sluttish!
