To have a nose job

AmsterdamCruising · 02/10/2023 22:45

I have what is technically known as a dorsal hump on my nose. I often think about having it filed down to a straight nose.
My husband says he’ll be really cross with me if I have it filed as he finds it very attractive.

Can this really be true? AIBU to not believe him, or is he BU and just trying to save money!? TIA

Well he can fuck off.

You dont have to build your life choices around his opinions.
Do what you want for yourself.

You were a whole person before you met him. He doesn't own you or your nose.

I broke my nose years ago and it’s not looked the same since. Probably not bad enough to get a nose job however it still gets em down sometimes. If I was really unhappy with it and had the money I would a million percent get it done. Pisses me off when men try and have a say In work that women want to get done.

So if you believed he thought your nose was attractive, you wouldn't have it done?

If you're doing it for yourself and you've always wanted it,why does it matter what he thinks of it ?
He is supposed to love you, for you. Not for your facial features exactly to his preference.

And if hes just trying to save money and that's all he cares about then you need to have a conversation around how to afford it/save for it.

Obviously it's up to you, and you should be making it clear to him that you need support whatever you decide. Even if he does fancy you with it, the way you view it is more important and if it's something you want to do then go for it

There are lots of complications with having a nose job. It isn't an easy operation at all and you may not like the result, which you then have to live with. The bridge of the nose often weakens over a decade or two and can dip which looks pretty horrendous. Glasses would slip down your nose! Snoring (and therefore poor sleep/poor marriage) is pretty common...

I actually also find the natural bumps many noses have attractive.

Some people use filler. I think its it's called a liquid rhinoplasty. This might be an option if not wanting to do surgery.

I find people with interesting noses very attractive so yes it could be true. But it's your nose and you should do whatever you want.

I had a nose job done at 16, never regretted it.

Lavenderandbrown · 02/10/2023 23:26

I had nose job at 24 paid for it myself for a prominent hump. My daughter at 21 paid for by her dad for a prominent hump She has gorgeous result I have good result. I hated my nose I was teased. We love our rhinoplasty’s and so worth the money. Do it. Do it now so you can enjoy it and get your moneys worth.

Thanks guys, really interesting replies. I didn’t know about the bridge weakening over time…. But also helpful to hear from those who are glad they did it.

I had mine done over 20 years ago. No weakening of anything. Best thing I ever did. Go for it

It's your nose and your decision.

I do know someone who had a nose job years ago. I think they looked attractive with their old nose, though that hasn't changed, but it gave them more confidence.

I would think about it for a while.
I was thinking of getting treatment for the sun damage on my skin - I also have lines, wrinkles, too much hair round my mouth, blackheads -a disaster imv. Then a friend in all seriousness told me yesterday I had beautiful skin !! We’d been discussing whether smoking damaged your skin.
I am speechless but realise I have probably spent too much time peering into x10 magnifying mirrors. (Am not now getting sun damage treated).
