Severe spider anxiety, have I been bitten???

So it's October, spider season. Over the past few weeks I have seen a HUGE spider in my house every other day and multiple smaller ones every day. I am terrified of spiders and my anxiety is all over the place. I put WD40 in every corner of the house and we still get them. Now here's the worst part, has one of them actually bitten me?
I had a spot on my bum yesterday that I thought nothing of. Today, I had such a pain when I was sitting down, it felt as though I suddenly had no fat when sitting down and I was just sitting down with my bones digging into the chair... When I finally got home to look, the spot had turned into what looks like a spider bite!!!! Now obviously I am terrified of spiders so my first thought is that it is a spider bite and I would appreciate someone's opinion.

It is red but not raised, with a hard lump under the skin about the size of a broad bean? It is not itchy at all but it really hurts! Please help. I have taken antihistamine, ibuprofen, applied antiseptic cream and covered it with a plaster. Will attach a pic, please excuse the awful skin on my body.

I need to know if this is a spider bite or not

I am so so anxious I cannot handle it. Every room I go into I have to check for them slowly before I relax or have someone else go in first to check. It is hell and I constantly feel like somethings crawling on me.

The red is about an inch and a half in diameter and there’s a hard bump underneath the size of a broad bean. Would appreciate if anyone can settle my nerves

I don't think a spider bite would start hurting a day later. I've been bitten and felt it immediately.
It sounds like you've got an ingrowing hair.

(Posted before picture. I still don't think it looks like a spider bite).

That doesn’t look like a spider bite to me as I can’t see two punctures.

im sorry, spider season is the worst. Make yourself a menthol or eucalyptus spray and spray it everywhere. Unlike wd40 you can spray it on your sofas, curtains, bedding etc. spiders don’t like the smell and won’t “walk” on it.

I think it's a spot/boil type thing. Doesn't look anything like a spider bite.

I buy spider traps for my bedroom. They are kind of sticky-backed cardboard that you make into a little tunnel thing. I can't sleep without them.

Not a spider bite

eandz13 · 02/10/2023 22:06

It doesn't look like a spider bite. It looks like a pimple.

When my husband was bitten by a spider it swelled up straight away. You could clearly see two puncture wounds too. I think you’ve probably got a cyst or a boil of some sort.

I've been bitten by a spider twice (a small one) and it hurt immediately and made me feel quite ill.

Well thank god. My mind was going crazy and partner wasn't being much help reassuring me. Thank you all, a lovely bum spot 😍😂

Do spiders bite?! Well, i didn’t know that. I have blissfully been going through life unscared & happily letting them live in the house in a ‘they don’t bite, they’re fine’ sort of way. Even convinced my DD of it.

Op that doesn’t look like a bit to me, more of a apt I would say.

Winnipeggy · 02/10/2023 22:23

Keep an eye on it. I can kind of see 2 puncture wounds (one bigger than the other) so I wouldn't rule it out 100% but that doesnt really affect the advice. Maybe put some anthisan or hydrocortisone cream if it gets any more painful or swollen

If its any consolation, I got bitten by what I think was a spider a couple of weeks ago. it formed a small blister, then healed. It was no worse than a standard insect bite - a little sore but nothing more than that. It looked nothing like the spot you have either 🙂
