i have had diarrhoea for the last 7 weeks more or less every day, usually when I wake up first thing. AIBU to think that most people probably don’t have? Just wanting to see what most people think before I contact the GP. There is a history of bowel cancer in the family and I’m a bit concerned, but perhaps this is normal. I’m 42 if that makes any difference.

Absolutely not normal, no

Cowlover89 · 01/10/2023 09:50

Definitely not normal

I think you should contact the GP and perhaps have some tests to reassure you.

Any change in bowel habits needs investigating but even more so with a family history of bowel cancer.
I'm the same and was diagnosed with Crohn's disease 7 years ago

You need to see a GP but have you changed food recently? Or have you had an actual sickness bug that the diarrhea just continued from?

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/10/2023 09:54

Of course it's not normal! You're 42 and haven't had diarrohea every day for the whole of the rest of your life so you know it's not normal.

7 weeks?! Yes see a GP. Urgently

I never had any food sensitivities until I got to about 40 and then I started to get diarrhoea after eating dairy products and other food like pasta. I started taking a daily 'gut health' vitamin a few months ago and it has made a massive difference.
