Help, I'm addicted to mumsnet. I have found it great as I have a child with SN and it saves me boring my RL friends about interminable school dilemmas etc., but I now spend far too long online reading posts and the housework/ kids homework etc are piling up. I have been known to kick wee-one (3) off cbeebies so that mummy can do some "work". Anyone else managed to ration themselves without backsliding, I'm as back as those kids who can't cope without mobiles or myspace.

My name is snotbuster and I'm addicted to MN!
Have been wondering whether anyone's started a 12 step style thread for the hopelessly addicted - but if there was one I'd have another excuse to come on to check it.

PABLOP · 05/03/2008 22:56

know how you feel allytjd, my DH has just gone to the garage to fill his van he'll only be 15 minutes but I couldn't resist sneaking back on again.

allytjd · 05/03/2008 23:05

DH has gone to play darts on regular dads night out and all i could think was " goody more mumsnet time", dishes not done yet, various self-improvement projects abandoned!

Hello MN addicts,.. new here,...please tell me what DS and DH and DD stand for

S1ur · 05/03/2008 23:12

acronyms link at top of page Jayne and welcome to the Hotel California

PABLOP · 05/03/2008 23:18

Hi JayneF,
You'll get used to it I keep having to refer to acronyms, on one of my first posts I ended with LOL thinking it meant "lots of love" and apparently it means "laugh out loud" which was really not appropriate on the thread I was on

don't lie strawberry. You don't come back less dependent... you come back gagging for the funny threads and the banter and the car crash threads and the fights.... ad nauseum!

MyMummiesAScummyMummy · 05/03/2008 23:25

Hi Jayne DS-Dear son, DD-Dear daughter, DH-Dear Husband, a few others ROFL- roll on floor laughing, IMHO-in my humble opinion, IYSWIM- if you see what i mean, PSML-pissed myself laughing.

Oh, I see it now,..doh!

Thanks girls. THe last chat web site I was addicted to led me to get married. This one has led me to children,... there is only divorce and death left!

It is a real nice site though,..a good mix of fun and facts.

S1ur · 05/03/2008 23:33

Yes mn is lovely and fun and good for you. DOn't listen to the nay sayers, they are full of shit jealousy.

(Should we tell her about the sex threads?)

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/03/2008 23:35

MN rocks

JayneF · 05/03/2008 23:45

Sex thrads will be wasted on me presently girls, am now two days over my due date. Ive not seen my undercarriage for three months never mind make it available for action!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 05/03/2008 23:48

I caught myself about to refer to DH as "DH" in RL yesterday- gave me a bit of a jolt!! My DH hates me "mummy-netting"! Started when he was away for 9 months, and now can't give it up!

PABLOP · 05/03/2008 23:49

wey hey, not long to go then, Is it your first?

JayneF · 05/03/2008 23:57

Nope, second, ...first only arrived 17 months ago though.

What was I thinking...?

I might need the divorceesnet site address soon!

scaryteacher · 06/03/2008 00:19

...what would he have preferred you to do when he was away? I know some people with very expensive habits when their DH goes off to sea.
At least MN is free, amusing, and doesn't cost much!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 06/03/2008 00:23

This is true, scaryteacher! I think he just felt a bit ....redundant when he came home!! Still, since he hogs the TV remote control when he is here, it serves him right! I laughed when he was huffed that I would prefer to be on the computer than watching "Jackass" with him....hmmmm!

scaryteacher · 06/03/2008 00:51

Yes, but they all feel redundant when they get back, as no-one is saluting and saying yes Sir, no Sir, three bags full Sir.

Tell me, is hogging the remote a man thing, or a Naval Orifice thing? I am not allowed near the remotes as either DH or DS are playing with them...so maybe it is a male thing...an adjunct to their appendages maybe?

Joolyjoolyjoo · 06/03/2008 00:55

Definitely! One time I refused to give Dh the remote he said, in all seriousness
"Give me the remote control, or I'm going to bed!!!"
I was in knots laughing. he said it was a joke! But it wasn't!

Is your DH a sailor too?

scaryteacher · 06/03/2008 06:50

yep, a black tube man if you see what I mean, but normally the South West end of the UK. We are currently in Brussels as he got back to back appointments out here, and I got bored with 6 weeking, so resigned, let the house and moved out with DS about 18 months ago.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 06/03/2008 11:43

brave you! How are you liking it over there? My DH should now be pretty much around for a good while (although currently off on a "training exercise" ie skiing holiday!) so need to get used to him taking up space again! he is coming out in 2 years- we joke that we will be divorced within 6 mths when he does!

notanothernamechange · 06/03/2008 11:53

My dh recently accused me of being addicted too!!! However being forced to go cold turkey when our internet failed for 3 weeks wasn't something I would recommend....
