Or is my neighbour a right pratt?

Well over a week ago I noticed a box outside my neighbour's front door, it was a flower delivery. For context we have only a couple of feet of "frontage" and then the public footpath so you couldn't miss this box. I said to my partner that the neighbours must be away as the box was left there and he said they were definitely there as he had spoken to the dad the day before at his front door and the box was there then. So I assumed it must just be an empty box left there for whatever reason.

Fast forward to this week. I was meeting my friend and she commented on the box of flowers and asked if they were away. I said it had been there for over a week and in heavy rain etc and I assumed it was empty. She went and peeked in the side and there were flowers in there! Further we looked at the label and it seems that the flowers should have been delivered to the same door number but in a block of flats at the end of the road. A stones throw from their house. But they have just ignored it and left it to get manky. It's still there. Who does that?! Had I known before it turned into a soggy mess of dead flowers I'd have tracked the owner down myself. The box is still there today. I wonder what my neighbours think will happen to it. They must be rubbing their legs against it every time they leave their house. Are they just going to leave it there forever?! It honestly beggars belief.

Yeah that's bad of them. I would be annoyed about it too. I wonder why they wouldn't have taken it to the actual person it was meant for? There are some very bizarre people about.

I'm assuming that they are able bodied. In which case, they are utter arseholes for not taking it to the right house!

There are 4 of them. All able bodied. They probably all pass by where the flowers should have gone on a daily basis as that's the way you have to go to leave the street. If they weren't sure they could have asked my partner when he first saw it there. Or knocked our door and asked me if I knew where the address was and I'd have been happy to help.

It’s none of your business. How do you know your NDN haven’t contacted the florist.

I would be furious if my NDN trespassed onto my land to read a parcel label that gas absolutely nothing to do with them. And why is it their responsibility yo make sure an unsolicited parcel is correctly delivered.

Keep your nose our - none of your business

We get post for a near neighbour most weeks, we always make sure it gets to them. I can't believe it never happens the other way around but they never come here with our deliveries. Some people are selfish.

Thiswillprobablyfail · 29/09/2023 20:04

There was no trespassing involved. As stated there is about 2 foot of frontage to our houses. I could read the label from the PUBLIC footpath. It's strange that you would be furious over that. I was personally wondering why a skanky soggy minging cardboard box had been left lying close to MY OWN front door. I had no idea if it was a delivery or if it was rubbish at this point. Given that our front doors are practically on the street did make it my business.

@Thiswillprobablyfail In that case they are lazy arseholes. Crap behaviour. Any decent person would get the flowers to the right person.

Well you'd think. But apparently I've been trespassing and should keep my nose out in typical MN fashion 🤣

@Thiswillprobablyfail Strange people, defend strange behaviour 😆

fuckssaaaaake · 29/09/2023 20:28

If that came to my house, honestly I would have planned to take it to the neighbours but life gets in the way. Every day I would be like, I'll do that tomorrow then it would get to this point.

That's really sad, that they just don't seem to care.
