...to reduce the risk of all of us getting it? I feel mean but it seems he picked this bug up from work and as he has been away all week, we would be unlikely to get it if we aren't exposed to it.

He sounds rough, poor thing and I am a bit worried about him, but I am quite glad he isn't here with it as he is away in the US from Sunday to Friday next week and thus would be leaving me with 3 possibly ill children and probably me.

Btw, it was his decision to stay away. I told him to come home or that I would go and get him but he doesn't feel he could sit in a car.

We will probably all be ill tonight....

oh poor dh i owuld rather him stay away also at the thought of being left on my own with 3 ill dc

i hope he feels better soon i had this last 2 days rest will do him good at least you wont be busy running around after him and dc

It's his decision. What's the point in him coming home if he doesn't feel like it and he could pass it on. It must be bad if he can't sit in a car.

If it makes you feel better I think you are doing the right thing.

If it were me I would want to stay away rather than have the children running around me, the peace would be so much nicer, but the reality is that I would have to still care for 3 children whilst being ill. I know it sounds selfish of me to prefer he stayed away, but I'll do anything to avoid a week from hell like that. I was incredibly ill once when my two youngest were 2.9 and 9 months and DH was abroad with no way of getting back quickly. I was so ill I had to keep DS1 off school to help with the younger children until I could get somehelp from family 2 hrs away. It was a nightmare and one I don't want to repeat. It's the one and only time I have been so ill I couldn't cope with the children.

YANBU - have just phoned my DH who is abroad with work, and he is ill too. Unfortunately, he is coming home tomorrow with bug, so I shall be playing the little wife and mopping the fevered brow, and ensuring there is plenty of loo roll in the house. That'll teach him to forget to take the diocalm with him!

Thank you all, you have made me feel so much better about it. I called him a little while ago and he is feeling a bit better but will stay away tonight.

Unfortunately DS2 came out of school complaining of his tummy hurting, seems ok to me and isn't hurting now, but we shall see - ho hum - I will be on high alert tonight.

Belgianbun, I hope your DH is better by tomorrow and leaves his bug behind. I don't think men completely understand that when they are ill they get to rest, when we are we ge to carry on as normal as I did 2 weeks ago with flu during half term!
