Mirena Coil- Bleeding After Exercise

Hi everyone,

I had the coil fitted to help with PCOS 4 weeks ago on Thursday and for the first 2 weeks had REALLY heavy bleeding and big clots but strangely, bleeding would stop at night and start within an hour of working where I sit at a desk all day. Went to the doctor who found the strings but it did feel like she was looking for a while (that could have been because of heavy bleeding). Almost straight after, the bleeding stopped, by the next morning and other than a slight bit of spotting, nothing. Then today, I went to the gym and ran 5k for the first time in a while and started bleeding again.
AIBU to think it could be pressing on a cyst (they said I had some outside the left ovary) or something else or is this all perfectly normal? I know the doctors will just say it's normal to bleed irregularly but it seems so coincidental when bleeding starts and stops. I don't want to be dramatic but I just thought I'd see what everyone else thinks.
Thanks everyone!

The coil is in your uterus, it can’t press on cysts that are on the outside of your ovaries.
I think it’s normal to stop bleeding when you’re lying in bed, but then it starts when you get up. And normal to bleed more when you exercise.
‘My coil took 6 months to fully settle down.

Thanks @DustyLee123 I think I need to refresh my knowledge of the anatomy of my reproductive system! That's really re-assuring, thank you so much for responding.

Whoever designed the female reproductive system needs a slap.
Mind you the male one isn't much better... who puts a waste pipe so close to a recreational area???

It doesn't "stop" at night but you are lying down so gravity isn't going to help with the flow...
And with exercise, all that jiggling around helps the gravity thing...

It took a few months for my bleeding to settle. I was honestly at the point of getting rid but suddenly it all stopped.

I was the same, I’d booked to have mine removed when it suddenly started behaving itself !

Thanks both, that's really good to hear. I just need to preserve and try to jiggle less when I exercise 😅
