To think “patchy as a world map” makes no sense?

(just seen it on some advert for face cream!)

Do they mean there are dry areas (land) and moist areas (the sea)?

Reference to all the different countries on a map, each in different colours, looks like a mottled mess.

If I heard that a map was "patchy" I'd think it meant "incomplete." Odd choice of words!

I have never ever looked at a globe or a world map and thought ‘what a mottled mess,’ or ‘gosh how patchy!’

Don’t know what planet the copywriters are on!

I'm more annoyed that Louise Redknapp says "my go to product" in the advert. But I have no idea why it bothers me.
