Just for you?

I live on my own in a 4 bedroom house. None are particularly big, one is tiny - like single bed, bedside table and that’s it.

I got it at a very good price during lockdown. Whenever I’ve been asked the question about how many bedrooms, I always get asked “just for you?”

Like it feels like I shouldn’t be allowed more space because I’m single. One room is my bedroom, the other a spare, an office and the tiny one is just storage. I don’t think that’s excessive tbh.

What are you asking?
What are you telling us?

They are just jealous, as I would be. You also get a whole kitchen, a sitting room and at least one toilet. Honestly I'd be jealous if someone had a whole fridge to themselves!! It's not having a go at your single status it's just envy at how much personal space you have.

I guess you’re right, it just feels like I have to defend my choice to have bought somewhere bigger than 1-2 bedrooms.

Apologies you weren’t able to grasp this simple post. Luckily someone else managed to answer me like a notable human being.

OK then

Mmhmmn · 26/09/2023 00:30

It might be connected to the extremely messed up state of most of the UK housing market and housing stock, and as pp have said, envy.
You do you, and enjoy your space.

RuffledKestrel · 26/09/2023 00:32

I had the same when I bought a large 3 bed house just for me.
Got some semi-offensive comments from people until I pointed out that I primarily work from home, so need an office. And the majority of my family live 3+hrs away so having a spare room is very handy for visits.

You totally should not have to justify it to anyone, but sometimes I found I had too to get folk to shut up about it.

Mmhmmn · 26/09/2023 00:36

I’d just say yes, and it’s fucking glorious 🙂

I doubt people give a shit. Most certainly don't care that there are loads of homeless children, or families living in poverty and horribly overcrowded conditions either. It's just small talk.

You are allowed to buy whatever is on the market. Good for you. Enjoy it.

Restinggoddess · 26/09/2023 12:21

You were asking if we thought it was unreasonable to have what you have - no it isn't
Your telling us you like what you have - fine

Yours notable human being!

Augustus40 · 26/09/2023 13:11

If not start saying it is a two bed?

Restinggoddess · 26/09/2023 14:07

OP wouldn't do that

First few responses indicates a need to be validated

Because no one else is in a similar position - of course

Scalottia · 26/09/2023 15:19

Watch out OP, here come the jealous people.

Good for you though - enjoy your house 🙂
