Why are we not learning to fight?

So often I see threads from women who are beaten, raped, abused.

Why can't we get together to teach each other how to defend yourself? Or attack if needs be?

Why are we not locking more rapists up?

Too many of them, where do you put them all?

And all the women would be crying ”Not my son, husband, boyfriend, brother, male friends, grandfather”.

I think we should all be given the option to attend self defence classes and girls in schools should be taught. Not every man is a predator but it's a useful tool to have.

Because it won’t make a blind bit of difference and it’s offensive to those who have been raped and assaulted to imply self defence classes would have prevented it.

In a situation where you are threatened, fight or flight instinct will prevail. You may not be able to fight back, even if you know how.

It shouldn't be our responsibility to defend ourselves against predatory males. Males should be taught from birth that it is unacceptable to treat females the way they do. Don't bother with namalt either, because I've heard it all before.

The vast majority of women know their abuser, self defence is only useful in limited circumstances. Stranger crimes are very rare

Being able to fight does not always help I was black out drunk when I was taken advantage of.
Went down a bad slope as couldn't believe I hadn't felt a thing when it happened.

There are plenty of self-defense for women videos on youtube. Most emphasise over and over again that these are techniques to hopefully surprise the assailant and get out of the situation - run, don't fight.
You can't fight a man. You won't win.
