Would you ask a guy out OLD

Ladies would you take the lead and ask a guy out on first date for OLD. If you are chatting and think you seem to get on would you ask him out or wait?

Yes if course I would. We only have 1 life and it would be a shame not to ask someone out I really really fancy.

BigFatLiar · 25/09/2023 14:49

Why not? A bit sexist to expect them to take the lead all the time. Be an equal and ask him if you want.

Sundaygirl01 · 25/09/2023 14:50

Yes definitely.

Drummend01 · 25/09/2023 14:51

Of course, if you want something you have to make it happen. It’s not the 1800’s anymore

Yes.
when I was OLD I had my profile set to private, so men could only see me if I initiated contact with them. This was after many unwanted dick pics and sex requests 🙄
I messaged and then asked out DH first.

MissConductUS · 25/09/2023 14:56

I did exactly that. We've been happily married for 26 years and have raised two lovely kids.

Yes, OLD was a thing 26 years ago. I found him on match.com when it was so new it was free to join.

I did. We’re now married and have 2 children plus a dog!

We were really getting on chatting via text but I was about to go away for 2 weeks with work so asked if he wanted to meet before I left. I’m fairly certain he’d have asked me if I’d waited a bit longer.

I online dated for a while before I met my husband and I liked to move on from messaging to meeting fairly quickly if I thought we’d get on (there didn’t seem a lot of point exchanging endless messages of when we met there was no chemistry) so I’d often be the first one to suggest going for a drink/coffee.
If I was doing the asking it also made it easier for me to suggest going somewhere I felt comfortable.

In my experience it's much more satisfying picking someone rather than letting him pick you. It kind of works better, though lacking evidence to support this claim.
