What on earth was this illness?

I had a sudden increase in what felt like acid indigestion. It became so bad I was lying on the floor screaming in a cold sweat and terrified. I’ve been through childbirth and this really scared me.
At A&E my sats were fine and then I started vomiting. I had the worst diarrhoea of my life for two weeks afterwards, no fever or sickness but even this started to scare me. DH got it too. Was this a bug? Food poisoning?

As you both had it, it was certainly something sort of virus or food poisoning. Sounds to me very much like campylobacter.

It could have been a tummy bug. Your GP should organise a stool sample. Heliobacter pylori is one of the nasties and hangs around for ages. I have had tummy bugs with stomach pain so bad I'm curled up in a ball and can't breathe. A FODMAP diet helps to heal your gut afterwards. Good luck!
