Just that really.

Not if you use it regularly. It can save you a lot of money.

CinemaCrazy · 21/09/2023 15:22

Why do you think it’s a scam? I use mine a couple of times per month and enjoy having it.

Kissmas · 21/09/2023 15:22

Had one years ago. Why would it be a scam? It's a discount card - the perks vary depending on where you are and when you want to eat etc

Crikeyalmighty · 21/09/2023 15:23

We used to use it a lot when we lived in London

Lampshadeblue · 21/09/2023 15:24

Saved me loads on Odeon lux cinema tickets xx

Approaching · 21/09/2023 15:24

It’s not a scam, that implies malice. But it may not be a cost saving unless you fit a fairly limited niche (use it enough, want to visit the places it includes).

HamstersAreMyLife · 21/09/2023 15:25

I used to have one and it was great when we lived in London. Not sure what it's like now but we have a similar scheme locally that doesn't really work after the pandemic. There are loads of restrictions and often you can get similar deals just booking online. Has Tastecard gone the same way?

Witchbitch20 · 21/09/2023 15:25

I noticed it became more and more restrictive over the years so quite often couldn’t use it but when I did the savings were good.

I didn’t pay for it though as got as a perk through a work scheme.

gogomoto · 21/09/2023 15:25

It's only worthwhile if you live in a city and go to chain restaurants a lot. It's useless where I live, but not a scam

Meadowdog · 21/09/2023 15:26

It's not a scam but it's not for me, either. It's useful for people who like chain restaurants which I don't.

cocksstrideintheevening · 21/09/2023 15:27

Had one years ago, I thought they had died out.

M4J4 · 21/09/2023 15:30

I got sucked into their 3 months free offer. Didn’t use it once and they started charging me from month 4 as I forgot to cancel it.

I wonder how much they rely on people’s inertia for not cancelling.

Just like Netflix, haven’t watched that for months.

That was me.
I actually tried to cancel on the app but couldn't find any way to do so. I did try to use it as well, but it was rubbish so I couldn't.

I found most of the places/times it covered were places you could usually find a discount code for without having the card, so it was a bit pointless IMO

CrazyHamsterLady · 21/09/2023 16:57

I wouldn’t say scam as such, it just depends on whether you use the places it’s offering the discounts for.

Did you email them or google how to cancel a Tastecard?

I have had one for about three years (I’ve never paid more than £1 for trial, normally it’s free). I live near an area that has a lot of chain restaurants in a marina with lovely views so eat there quite often. I meet my friends in the evening or have a relatively inexpensive lunch out (around £24 for both of us). It’s also handy for cheaper cinema tickets, I have an unlimited card but then I can get my friends a cheaper ticket.

Pix56 · 21/09/2023 17:30

I get it free with my bank. Had it about 8 years now and haven't used it once.

Lincslady53 · 21/09/2023 17:38

We bought into it pre Covid, and it was great, at first. Then our local pub stopped accepting it on steak meals, which is what we usually went for, so we cancelled it. Used Compare the Market to renew car insurance, and now get 2 for 1 cinema tickets, and discounts on some restaurants, a bit like tastecard but no annual charge.
