To scream.........

<SCREAM>>>>>>>>

The DC have only been back a week and I already feel overwhelmed. Back to work (although I don't even work FT, 25 hours a week), long commute to work, drop DC off and pick up, orthodontist appointments, parents evenings, cook, clean, laundry, dog walk, elderly parents and more...

I'm already overwhelmed and knackered. My house is an absolute TIP.

Anyone else just wants to SCREAM!!!!!

Hhahahah it is a hard time of year. Scream away!!

both mine are at secondary now but that’s loads more to remember , also they usually basically have 50% time with their dad but he’s been away since the end of august. So all the running around is me. Ice skating ( x3 per week) , football, netball, production rehearsals, tutoring, Acro, homework, reading, food tech prep ( worst subject ever for parents!

I work FT, but from home mostly thank god. Due in the office today so of course one of them is poorly! ( really rough tbh so couldn’t have gone)

I’m 40 at the weekend so I’m trying to survive until then but I am absolutely bloody knackered!

September is ALOT!

Screaming is only allowed in the Sistine Chapel.

NotReallySureAboutIt · 20/09/2023 09:13

Honestly a cleaner is life changing. Mine is £28 per week for 2 hours and she is bloody fantastic. She tidies and cleans but it motivates us every Sunday evening to have a good tidy up (even the kids join in and they're both under 6) and then when we all get in on Monday evening the place is sparkling and smells lovely. It makes everything else feel better and easier to deal with. Honestly do that one thing and hire a cleaner , fuck the budget! And make life easier. Also find a job working from home, even if its lower paid - if you minus off the fuel from the long commute the add a few more hours to work from working at home you'll end up with the same amount of money anyway.

Mine have been back a couple of weeks, already had one down with a high temp, another with diarrhoea (self inflicted from drinking half a dairy farm) and an inset day. Also having the usual nonsense of miscommunication from one of the kids school, every year they have a really poor handover, so it’s like he’s starting from scratch every new school year. Spend the first term feeling like I’m bashing my head against a brick wall, so I will join you in some screaming.

SeptemberSuns · 20/09/2023 09:31

LOL, but still plenty of time to post on MN. Not that overwhelmed?

I did scream this morning because the cat jumped on the worktop and ate my breakfast 😱. Final straw.

1daughterand3sons · 20/09/2023 21:18

I'll join you and scream third week back at school and Ds is off with diarrhoea he will be off the rest of the week now.
Final straw in feel like I'm coming down with a cold.

ItstimeToMoveagain · 20/09/2023 21:20

Same, one of mines decided he hates wrap around care so that's a bit of a nightmare. Luckily I only have to go into the office one day a week. Ds2 hasn't gone back to uni yet and all his stuff just seems to be everywhere atm

Bellsandthistle · 20/09/2023 21:24

“Find a new job” is a ridiculous comment.

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 20/09/2023 21:27

YANBU. Can I scream too please?

As for find a different job and get a cleaner, I do think some people are a bit clueless about those who are less fortunate than themselves.

ImNotAsThinkAsYouDrunkIAm · 20/09/2023 21:49

I’ll scream with you. Monday afternoon I found myself on a conference call whilst cooking dinner and trying to read out spellings. I have a cleaner. But sadly, contrary to what the mumsnet collective hive mind seems to believe, that hasn’t solved my fundamental problem of not being able to clone myself.

daffodilandtulip · 20/09/2023 21:52

I had a little cry earlier, after working all day, taking DD to college and picking up, taking the dog to the vets, cooking tea, doing the food shopping, taking DS out and collecting ... then DD asked for a cup of tea after I had sat down for precisely three minutes for the first time since starting work at 7:30. (She made her own!)

AutumnalEquinox · 21/09/2023 08:21

Surely I am allowed to look at MN whilst having key breakfast SeptemberSuns.

Tried to hire a cleaner this week, but no one available. Will have to do it myself. I've told my DH that he has to put up with the mess until Christmas as I am going to do one room at a time and clear out. DH does help me, but he leaves the house at 0600 and gets back 2000 with his commute and he does all the gardening and other stuff, so he's pulling his weight.

It's not up to me what you do - I'm just suggesting that someone so overwhelmed they can barely function wouldn't have time to post on MN.

Roselilly36 · 21/09/2023 08:56

I can remember those days well OP. Just feels relentless doesn’t it. Scream away if it helps.

PennyNotWise · 21/09/2023 09:01

Agreed! There must be more to life than this
