I moved into my home in march, it's an end terrace. There are three houses. Me, the neighbour in the middle (the problem) and the other end house.
Neighbour in the middle gets up at 3am to leave for work at 5:30am, no problems there. But neighbour in the middle also slams doors for the whole 2 and a half hours, and then slams her front door too.
When I politely let her know that she's waking me up during these hours, she explained that in a house she used to live in, she was burgled, and that's why she slams the front door (???)
I thought that she was unaware she was waking me up and after this it would stop, but it didn't. So I went over again and directly asked her to stop waking me up with the noise at this time. I explained that I have PTSD (ex military) and waking up with a bang is causing me to have daily panic attacks.
At this, she began screaming at me. Something along the lines of "I've been here 10 years, you've been here 5 minutes. You are a renter I own my house, I have anxiety sometimes" all very strange, didn't make much sense.
Anyways after that it stopped!!! And then recently, in the last week, I had to dogsit for my friend for a few days. I KNEW after this she would start slamming the door again, I just knew it. I had the dog for 3 days, the dog is very well behaved, doesn't bark, but I knew that she would have a problem with me taking it out to the toilet before bed. Roughly at 11pm each night, silently. I wouldn't even speak because her bedroom window faces our back yard, so I would creep out with the dog, they would do their business, and we would creep back inside. But I literally saw her in the window scowling at me as I did this.
And as predicted, the noise has started again. It's making life very hard, me and my partner are exhausted from it. We just want it to stop.
I'm planning on contacting the council. AIBU? Should I try talking to her one last time?
