AIBU to think it could be broken?

My son hurt his finger playing in goal yesterday at football. The end of it (part from top knuckle to nail) was swollen straight away. It was still swollen and red this morning and he knocked it playing football today (not in goal this time). He has been out playing football with his mates this evening (there’s a theme obviously 🙄) and it looks even more swollen tonight and redder. I’ve been wanting to take him to minor injuries since yesterday but he didn’t want to go. Other people have said it can’t be broken if he can move it and it would be black and blue etc. is this right?

Without an X-ray simply no way of knowing. DS dislocated two fingers, they were put back in by the first aider who said we needed an X-ray to make sure they were aligned correctly. Came out the X-ray to say the fingers were find but he had a break in his hand! We would have taken him at all if the first aider hadn’t told us to.

It’s annoyed me that he has refused my offers to take him all weekend but now he’s complaining (probably hoping for time off school!)

it could be. all they will do is tape it to the next one or two fingers. you don't say how old he is but maybe take him just to show that you are in charge. If you think it's a way of getting time off school then take him after school

DH broke his playing football (also a stint in goal). Or we assume he did, at the time it was 'fine', no need to get it checked out no matter what I said, just another football injury (he has quite a list). It was swollen but not black and blue. It never healed right and cost a bloody fortune to get his wedding ring resized. Take him, even if he misses first lesson as queues shouldn't be too bad first thing hopefully, hope all is well but expect it to be one of many trips if football is his thing.
