Almost 18 month old gets nappy ? Potty ready ?

My DS will be 18 months at the start of November..

For the last few weeks he's been telling me when he's doing a poo. Or after. He's also started going towards the drawer where we keep nappies.

Today he did a poo, told me as he started doing it. Finished. Walked over to the drawer, got a nappy and gave it to me and then lay down for a change.

I have an older child too. She didn't do stuff like this. I trained her just before she was 3 and it was painful.

Is my son showing signs of readiness?

Potty trained my younger one at that age and it worked well. Seems worth a try

I read the oh crap book when poetry training my oldest and they talk about the window between 18months and 2 and a half to something.

I started properly trying to train my oldest at around two and a half and I had to try several times and then the last time it took 3-4 weeks of accidents for her to get it.

It always left me feeling that I had either left it too late ( according to the book ) or it was too early.

I think my son would probably get it, but I'm not sure he would be able to pull his trousers up and down. But I've never tried to show him.

I would start, he is aware of what he's doing. I think this comes from oh crap, it gets harder when they are older because then you have to u teach them crapping in the nappy as well as using the potty/toilet.
