Help! Earrings problem

Hi! Just posting in case anyone has any advice/knowledge.

I had my ears pierced age 10. I wore earrings 80% of the time until age 14 when I stopped and probably wore them 20% of the time. By age 18 I was only wearing them occasionally, probably twice a year for weddings or special events. They never seemed to close up though- I once didn’t wear them for 17 months and they went in easily enough. But recently I started wearing (now age 25) earrings full time and weirdly they seem to have closed up even though I’m now wearing earrings? After 1 week of wearing them they went an old red and mildly infected so I didn’t wear them for 3 days and now they’re completely closed. The infection was very mild and healed itself and is gone now but it’s completely healed over. I don’t understand why this has happened when I’m wearing earrings now but didn’t happen when I didn’t wear them for 17 months!! Does anyone have any advice of anything I can do or will I need to get them repierced?

Only wear gold

You may be able to push an earring through. It won't have healed all the way through as that takes weeks but a membrane may have grown over. But be prepared for a bit of crusting

Agree. Only wear gold

Gold has never worked for me. Makes my ears black. Wear silver.

Get original studs p, push them through and treat the piercings like they’re new. I have TCP which I used assiduously when mine went crusty and started oozing black pus!
