School toilets

My Y1 child came home on Friday in a mess and said there was no toilet roll in the school toilets đŸ˜“there seems to frequently be no soap / paper / toilet leaking etc. AIBU to expect toilet roll to be available for children? Is there usually someone responsible for checking the loos?

in the school I work in, toilets are stocked each morning and staff check them at break and lunch time. If necessary, we can replenish loo roll, soap etc as needed. I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect that.

@Nectarines Which staff do that? Is there a rota or is it just whoever gets chance. I guess if it’s the latter then sometimes it gets missed.

It's stocked in the morning by cleaners and then the children tell us if they run out of anything and support staff refill. Encourage your child to tell someone at school.

Since DS started being solely responsible for his own wiping we seem to get through a lot more toilet paper. I'd mention it to the school but also pop a packet of tissues in her book bag with one folded in her pocket so she's always got tissue

@Sherrystrull Think it was too late when
she noticed- looked for the paper after she’d been.

I would contact the school. In the meantime tell your daughter to check before going and if there's none go and tell someone.

She might be lying. Yr1’s aren’t always great with wiping but can get embarrassed!

My DS(8) has always complained about the state of the school toilets, and has told the teachers a few times now apparently when they are particularly bad.
