Perimenopause-Struggling to use tampons

Shamelessly posting for traffic-I am fairly sure I am perimenopausal, and its bringing some "delightful" surprises, like 2 weeks apart periods, horrific cramps, night sweats and month long PMS.

The strangest yet though-I am really struggling to use tampons-I have used tampons with no problems for over 25 years-sorry if TMI here-I insert them properly as I have always done, but they seem to be dislodging/causing painful irritation. I only ever use them in the day and when I am heavy, so I don't think it is due to dryness or them staying in too long (i have a max 4 hour rule anyway)

Has anyone else experienced this? I hate just wearing pads especially every 2 to 3 weeks!

Any other charming perinmenopause effects I can expect?

I had the same thing happen, but thankfully my periods were never heavy and I just took to wearing panty liners instead. My hypothyroidism was diagnosed later, and I had no idea there was a connection.

Thank you all-will get booked in with GP to discuss HRT -I was tempted to ask to go back on the pill but thought i would be better trying to ride it out if I could.

@Lex345 no you wouldn’t necessarily be told you had a prolapse during a smear (I wasn’t told) or notice during sex. I only found out because one morning I woke up with fanny pain and when I went to the loo there was a bulge. Went to see an out of hours GP via 111 and was told to see a gynaecologist. Booked a private appointment and had the operation 3 weeks later as it was actually quite severe and not fixable via pelvic floor exercises/pessary which would the usual first line. I did have significant birth injuries though. Did you have any as that increases the risk of prolapse?

My other symptoms looking back were difficultly pooing/weeing, fanny soreness, lower back pain and tampons falling out.
