Should I be upset about this?

My MIL commented on my daughter’s first day back to school photo I texted her by saying “she didn’t like it”. AIBU to be hurt by this comment? I think she looks beautiful on it and I’ve had a few others say it’s a lovely photo.

It was an unnecessary comment - if she didn't like it, she could have refrained from saying anything.

Is there a backstory here - does your MIL often put you down?

LegArmpits · 16/09/2023 00:11

Well - ARE you upset by it? 🤷

Don't share anymore photos with her. Its a photo of her granddaughter whats not to like. Did you not respond to her, I would HAVE to reply. Does her son know? Urgh.

Maybe a little upset at a tactless and unnecessary comment. Did she explain? May be she just didn't think it was a good photo and it was aimed at the photographer. Does she have form for this kind of thing? I would have to ask why she said it (in person).

Why didn't she like it?
I wouldn't be upset at all, I'd think it a slightly odd thing to reply with and not send her any in the future. If DH wants to he can and she can tell him she doesn't like them.

MIL's exist to get on your nerves surely you've realised this by now...Ask her what's wrong with the photo for starters and if she has a history of putting you down stand up to her.
