TA interview

I went to a TA interview this morning. It went well and the deputy complimented my task I had to do.

How long do I need to wait until they contact me? They said by the end of the day. I'm literally sat here watching my phone. I've been in this situation before where the longer I am waiting the more chance I won't get the job.

Did they have others to interview after you? I'm involved in recruitment at my school and often we don't meet to make the decision until later on, as the school day is busy with interviews/ tasks etc. plus all our usual work.

It's likely that the group of people making the decision may only just now be free to discuss the interviews as many will have been in class. I'm sure you will hear by 5pm. They usually call the successful applicant first in case they decline the job.

They said by the end of the day. It’s not the end of the day yet. From personal experience, last time I interviewed in the morning. Was told they get in touch by the end of the day. Got a TC at 4.58 and got the job. They will probably be interviewing all day and then need to discuss the results. No need to panic just yet as everyone will be in the same position and nobody would have got the answer as soon as they attended

Good luck

When I had my ta interview they said at the end of the day. I didn't actually receive a call until the next day where there offered the job.

MonkeyPuddle · 15/09/2023 16:52

Fingers crossed!

Thank you everyone.

I still haven't heard anything.

My current manager doesn't want me to leave as she got funny at me when I've had a job interview before (she found out because she was contacted for a reference before the interview) so I'm worried she will refuse reference. She has no reason to refuse reference as I'm a good staff member. Can a manager actually refuse reference for no reason?

No, your manager cannot refuse to provide a reference and it's content must be fair and accurate.

The reassurance I can give you is that it's the beginning of the academic year and that present's unbelievable amounts of demand on time. It's highly probable that something more important bumped job offers from the must do list.

I know that's cold comfort to you, but as someone who left school tonight at 7pm due to unexpected levels of shite, it's totally plausible.

Employers can refuse to provide a reference unless it's specificlly stated in either your contract or you negotiate it as part of a settlement agreement
